No you have that wrong.... If "Courtesy Staging" is an actual rule at the track, it means all of the time not just eliminations, for example in the Super categories at a National or Divisional Event, Courtesy Staging is in effect all of the time. Once the racers get used to it the'll like it esspecially with "Auto Start" If one of the cars breaks or can't stage the starter will allow the other to fully stage and take the single run.
If it's NOT an actual track rule but just suggested that you courtesy stage, there isn't anything to complain about because no one broke any rules. The track needs to make it a rule if they want the racer to do it.
IF courtesy staging is a rule, the racer that fully stages is to be backed out and made to restage (courtesy style) in time trials and eliminations. NHRA race rules says if a racer violates the courtesy stage twice on the same run after he's been backed out to restage... his run is disqualified. So if your running time trial sessions, you would loose your run, if your in eliminations you would be disqualified.... that's how they enforce the rule. This happened in the Super Gas final round at Joliet a few years ago.

I thought that was the rule also until I learned the hard way in the finals of sst at gateway a couple of years ago. I got double bulbed, i paused for a moment to see what was going to happen. Nothing, so I rolled in and got in a hurry and lost. When I inguired with Rich Bowers he told me it was up to me to make the starter back the other guy out. I asked the strarter why he did nothin? He told me that he started to but I just kept on staging so he let me. It is the drivers option to make the starter back the other guy out and start again.

Courtesy staging with autostart is the death of slow cars. You can not consistency get in deep with courtesy staging especially if you are the slow car. If you are not deep staging someone double bulbing you should not effect your run in anyway. You still have 10 seconds after you prestage. In any footbrake category in which deep staging is allowed autostart should be off and the tree be held for deepstagers. Look at how every successful big bucks bottom bulb race is run.

If it's a rule It should be all of time. Even in time trials if your doing sessions your running your same class. Thats also why Deep Staging isn't allowed in the NHRA classes that require courtesy staging.

It sounds like you got the short end of it, because that's too much for a racer to have on his mind and do when the starter could of made it simple.... The starter should of done his job IF it's a rule... but it's a fact that some of the events like Division events use the host tracks regular employees and the normal track starter and rather than observe the NHRA race rule the starter may do what he normally does during the regular bracket races.

Thanks for the compliment. I had a pretty good run of lights but I don't think I did a good job of staging the car. It is hard when you can't take your time.
My lights in order were.
.0000 .025 .004 -.056(bored in deep bc other person double bulb me) Eliminations -.021 (deep bye run they don’t hold tree for deep stagers) .035 .031 .068 (got in deep when other car got in early and I over compensated. .014 .036 .037 Took the tree on bye .029 final street .014 final sportsman

hopefully we can repeat the performance this sunday. with each passing round i get more excitied. I don't know what words come out the first 10 grand race I won. I'm kinda like Will Ferrel in the movie old school when he gives the big speech but doesn't remember any of it because he blacked out.

I totally understand. I've had times where my wife has peeked in the door just before we pull out of teh lanes because I'm giving myself a pep talk. And that's nothing compared to my shut down area speeches!! ;D

In any footbrake category in which deep staging is allowed autostart should be off and the tree be held for deepstagers. Look at how every successful big bucks bottom bulb race is run. i couldnt agree more! that was my only complaint last year during the pro tree race also. most of us had to go deep in the slow class, so everyone was racing to get in first. Other than that, it was a great, fun race.. just wish the tree had been on manual that night. I think as far as courtesy staging goes, if a guy your racing has deep on his windows and the tree is on auto start, just prepare yourself before you light your first bulb.. take all the time you need and then you have 7 more seconds after you do.. It is a minor change in the routine that usually wont effect you unless your caught off guard. the key is taking your time, and raising your awareness. If a guy just jumps right in, either intentionally, or accidentally that is not doing so for the purpose of deep staging, just simply dont stage.. the starter will look at you and you can point out the double bulb and if he is knowledgable, he will understand what you are point out and should back him out.. In the case that he doesnt understand, isnt paying attention, just revert to what i said earlier.. You have all the time you need before you light that pre stage bulb.. take what you need and then you should still be able to bump in and set the brake with plenty of time.. That gets a little tougher and trickier to do if your footbraking. In any case, time is your friend, and use it to dial your self in, get comfortable. hope this helps. i realize 99.9% of you already know, but if this helps one person, im happy.

Last year ... This year or even when Jacklyn ran the place.... Everyone requested Autostart so that's what you got. I don't care for Autostart because the starter or starting line officials can't step in an stop the cars at the last second if something is wrong.

This is another example of the racers trying to tell you something and you not hearing what they said. The racers wanted autostart on for the regular bracket races but off for the pro tree race so people could deep stage. The racers tried to get you turn it off but all you would say was, you guys wanted autostart so thats what you got.
