starting line temps where 114 to 119 before eleminations, and after 2nd round the clouds rolled in and there was a slight crosswind and temps started to fall(not much).this means track will change.i think since there was a q16 they should of sprayed agian during lunch break.dont know if this would of helped but at least it it wouldnt of hurt.tech wont be as bad as everybody should of eti teched and will make it easier as the season goes(this was the 3rd race with a good car count finally).chad is ok ,car can be fixed.after talking to chad he had nothing bad to say about the track, and im sure he will fix it and be back with bells on and new underwear(great driving chad).talked to many racers and they said they where off around .010 with this said if everybody will calmly voice any conserns, greg will listen and adjust as needed. also i'm not bashing the track either, as i love cid and it racers

Brandon ,seriously doubt that my car will hit the tires hard enough to have much issues. There are ways when you know that a track just isn't there, and you have to adjust, either take timing out, take leave rpm away, make shift point quicker, sometimes the most simple thing can make a car adjust for the marginal track work . If the track is marginal at the start , you just about bet it will be at the end, if not worse due to to many factors not known, ie oil downs, weather, heat/cold, dew points, track prep between rounds of different classes? OO helps if the guy knows the track what will work and what wont on a certain track ! I also understand when only 2-3 time runs is all you get, not much time to crawl under a car and make changes in a car, I cannot comment on how the track is prepped, you guys are the one who are there. As for the tech issue, again if that track has a set of vip/eti for THAT TRACK, and you have passed it, and they happy good.

i am not track bashing either, i just know from experience that it takes work to prep a race track and some days it takes alot of work and some days there is not a whole lot you can do with it but if the racers see the effort being made to make it as good as possible then there is not much else you can do and i am not implying that the effort is not there because i have no idea

Ok Dennis, Go to the track, Make 1 pass, its not working. Change your leave rpm. Ok it picked up 2 numbers. You go back talked to your neighbor. He also picked up 2. Did your change affect it or did the track just change. Go back up with another change now all of sudden your starting eliminations the next round and you have no idea what kind of consistancy to expect because you have changed something between every round. Not to mention that screwing with the leave rpm is changing your reaction time along with most changes that you make to a car does. All of this because the track you chose to go to is marginal. A lot of people are happy to go tnt which is great. I am not. I hate to tnt. I like the competion. That is why we get a setup and leave it. Again my posts are not about CID. They are an opinion with Dennis and "just being happy with the track we are given"

Exactly Brandon...Look at Coles County now. I have not heard ONE complaint about that track since they went back to VHT. Why cant CID just go back to what worked in the past. Experimenting or a "special recipe" is non-sense. Go back to what works and leave it. JMO

I talked to Dean hohimer a bit ago about the weekend and got the run down. I didn't realize Chad was in the fast car. Really good to hear it wasn't bad.
As for the glue.....you'll be very..very..hard pressed to convince me VP is as good or will perform day in / day out as well as VHT. I've stated it a dozen times....i am Ok with trying something as long as you know when to throw in the towel & Hot weather brings a whole new set of things to deal with. CID has always hooked in the cool weather, even when Boyd owned it. Once it got hot....you saw the true colors. Not saying CID is at the point to quit playing. Just saying.
And i agree with tech....should be much better moving forward. Hopefully, everyone will be done by the time I get there!! ;D

I have a question, how important is it in having the track drag? Do it for every race or beginning of the season. Can you get away not having it done. I asked one of the starting line guys if they have drag it one day and he said they don't have a drag.

Yesterday was the ETI for tech. Everyone had to go through tech again. Once you made it through they gave you a sticker for the rest of the year. They just picked a bad weekend to do it with 142 cars. It's out of the way now and tech won't look like it did this weekend.
I was testing a new engine so I wasn't sure if the 60's were slow or I was overpowering the chassis. I was spinning some but not too bad. At least it was trying to hook and had the front end off the ground, unlike last year and was at least raceable. During the first two passes it went 6.094 and then went 6.083. Considering it was 95 degrees out at one point I didn't feel it was all that bad. I'm not near fast enough to see any skating around at the top end so I never see any problems once I get off the line unlike the higher hp cars so I can't comment on that.
Now once the sun started to set the track got great and it showed in the 60' times and et. The 60' was with the back tires and went 6.00 but I did switch to the right lane where I was told it was a little better than the left. The next pass it was going to go all the way to the bumper and I had to get out of it but picked up another .02 in the 60'. Now I have an oil pan to fix. Lol!
Will VHT be better??...probably. I hear it's working great at CCD. In the end, even though it costs more initially, when you consider you will use less product, less labor cost to apply it, and better traction for the racers, it's really a no brainer not to use it. It will be one less complaint/headahe for Greg too.
I honestly didn't think it was too bad for the most part but I was just testing and not trying to race on it.

As far as VIP and ETI go, VIP is only good at the track that did the tech. ETI is good at every NHRA track.
Even with an ETI, you are supposed to take your car to tech. The tech guy is supposed to make sure the car is tagged. Once he sees the sticcker he sings off on it and you go on your way. Otherwise you could be driving a completely different car that has never been teched and he wouldn't know it.
Once again that is how it's supposed to work. We all know that once some tech guys get to know you and your car, they will sign the card without seeing the car.

Yea it's just good at CID. The paper we filled out said ETI at the top, not to be confused with NHRA's ETI.

Maybe they can try and do what I57 does, put sprinklers on the track all day keep cold water running over the track when it is hot? seams to work there??

this thread turned out pretty darn good, not a bash session but some good discussion and honest personal opinions, thats what a forum is supposed to be =)
