they put up a big page on the nostalgia show and it says NO DRIVER AIDS. the track rules state that any car entering a no box class must remove the box, no unplugging. sounds like there will be a lot of people removing their boxes or buttons, or THERE WILL BE A VERY POOR TURNOUT FOR THAT RACE. no mention about whether it will be a .400 pro tree, a .500 pro tree, or a normal .500 tree. nothing about whether the tree will be blinded or not.
WE ARE NOT MUSHROOMS TO BE KEPT IN THE DARK.

As far as I know all glides with a pro brake have to use a button to back up.

personally the nostalgia race is a nice show, its nice seein the old cars, i cant run in it anyways so when it comes to the track as long as the bracket racing is working i could care less. There are no points involved so if ya cant race in the nostagia race ill bet theres another track close enough you can run in it. Problem solved.

That is a good point about the button and backing up.
Hey...if it's truly a nostalgia race.......hold them straight in the burnout & then push em back!!!!!!

I love the old pictures of guys leaning against the cars in the burnout that took 5 minutes to do. Then the guy does 5 or 6 dry hops...backing up after each one.

you need to remember that back then the tire compounds were hard, about the same as a street tire. ladder bars were a new thing and your four link was still some high school kids mind. they used resin on the track to try improving the grip. the car would burn thru it, then back up in the same tracks and launch off that. you also needed a blower or a heavy dose of nitro just to run in the 9s
drag city actually used a traffic light for a Christmas tree. you staged and the yellow came on and you left on the green. there was no pre stage, stage lights, and only one yellow and then the green, exactly like a pro tree today. and if there was a handicap start they sometimes had to use a flagman.
aahhhhh the good ole days

Heck trans brakes(an yes most brakes today need a button for rev), 2-steps,electric or air shifters even a shift lite, etc which I have none of IMO are Driver Aids. Its 2012 an racing has changed. Just because I like driving my Flintstone mobile with out all that stuff is my choice and I could care less who I race has what. Just when I see NO DRIVER AIDS an then told that stuff does'nt help it gets me going sorry! Just hope we all Great season of racing!

You guys are misunderstanding or the newbee's that are running the show don't know what their saying. Trans Brakes are allowed in Nostalgia Racing but NO ADJUSTABLE Buttons are allowed, a normal micro switch button is allowed. An adjustable button IS a drivers aid. Electronics such as delay boxes and throttle stops are not allowed at all in Nostalgia Racing but some tracks do allow electric shiftnoids, rev limiters and two steps.
Last year we allowed the racers to zero out or turn off delay boxes and WE sealed the delay box off with a decal rather then make guys totally remove them because some were hard wired in.... we random checked some cars during the event.

If the track is going to guarantee the purse, they probably want as many cars as possible (sealed delay boxes included).

For the faster cars i can see the need for delay boxes, for us slow ass people make it about the driver not a box. Then im predjudical cause if theres more than stop and go pedals im lost =p
