On a seperate note more in line with the subject of this thread. I went to the car show tonite and Gateway did not have much info but here is what I could find out. The first bracket race will be a double header april 11-12 along with the Jegs super quick series. There will be 11 bracket races and several "special events" but they did not have a schedule or info on what the dates might be. Super Pro WILL be run 1/8 mile. All other classes will be contested on the 1/4 mile. Full schedule and class rules will be out on a monday in Febuary.
If somebody wants to goto my facebook page and steal a photo and repost it here. I took a photo of this information as they did not have copies to give out. I kind of chopped it off a little so I do not know which monday it is that they will be releasing the full schedule. I have no idea how to post photos here or I would post it myself. Hopefully somebody knows how to get it from there to here. But it basically says what I typed above at the beginning of this reply.

wow , I thought this forum was a place to go to post opinions , I guess I was wrong but I am new to this posting stuff, (that was only my second post) in my opinion I personally don't like the box , no box race if by a miracle I get past all of the great pro and sportsman racers i would need another miracle to get past the box racer (probably a 4.80 something dragster) bringing my foot brake car to that would be like bringing a rock to a gun fight . after all if racers want to more like other tracks and race 1\8 mile I thought there might be interest in a foot brake class which seem to be popular at all the other tracks like I-57, Sikeston ,Accelaquater , then if I do get past all the great racers in sportsman I don't have to compete with trans brake guys with adjustable buttons . Foot brake would make it a lot closer between sportsman and pro together, if we are going to make a class that is what I would like to see. Oh I too would also like to see a trophy class on Saturday also , that is just my opinion ( oh s$$t there's that word again haha)

If someone wants to only run a footbrake class, go to C I D and run theirs. my car will have a trans brake in the tranny, but it will not be hooked up and it will run mid tens.

doughboy692 my mopar runs mid 10s , has gone mid 30s in good weather and 60s in bad , gateway is 20 minutes from my house so I rather race their . I never been to cid but I do have a good time at I-57 hopefully Bonne terre will have bracket racing ,it is only about an hour. I like most can only get the wife to let me dump only so much into my street/racecar, plus I don't want to use a brake with the cast cranck in the motor.

I understand that not everyone can afford to spend like a drunken sailor on their racecars. You have to eat too I get it. I dont know what that has to do with running a footbrake car in PRO class though. Heck 2 years ago I ran my footbrake car in SP at the Mid America Bracket finals in Hardinsburg KY and damn near won the race. Went more rounds and made more money that weekend in SP than I did in footbrake. And I dont understand what I or many others are doing wrong by running a footbrake car in PRO classs. I'm missing something here. I just dont know what it is that I'm missing. And in good air with a good track I can go deep in the 9's. I slow my car down to mid 10's to make it more consistant. Not sure what ET has to do with it either other than I'm too fast for sportsman. But years ago I was just as fast and ran that a few races to so I could get more practice driving the stripe. I know you have a point about running a footbrake car in PRO. Again I'm just not seeing what it is.

very true!!!! When I first started 3 years ago I had been down the track maybe 7 times in my old street car. I found a good deal on a car did some work to it and boom 10 sec car with a brake. Showed up to the track and realized I had just feed my self to the wolves. I couldnt get the time off of work or afford to to make it to t&T on weds. So race day was my T&T. Put that together with only being able to race once maybe twice a month and it was brutal. Trying to get things figured out on race day with 2 qualifies, then first round. Buy back in just to lose second round. I have figured some things out. LEarned more then I ever thought. Most of which I owe to Landolts and Jeremy. They have helped me out in ways I never would of expected. Kurt esp. A beginner class would be awesome. Where you are only aloud to race it one or 2 years and must move on.

what it really comes down to is foot brake is more fun , (to me) and if we are going to have an extra class at Gateway like box/no box I would rather see it be foot brake . Yes I know a sportsman car can beat a s/pro dragster I seen Dan Smith do it with his 300, but it is rare to see that . Heck I'm not in that class of driver and never will be and that is ok racing needs people to donate to the purse or there will only be 10 sharks and no purse to win and I enjoy doing it when I can. While i'm at it I might go ahead and puke out my opinion on some other off topic stuff like I don't care about bikes racing in pro , they want to race for a good purse too and until I start seeing them in the winning circle A LOT I'm not going to care . I'll go ahead and say I'm sorry to any dragster guys now for this comment/opinion from a fan point of view dragster are boring , I just like fast a$$ door cars a lot maybe that is why I like foot brake . lets face it there is only so many hours in a race day so maybe we need to stick to the basics like s/pro , pro, sportsman and then Trophy and the class with the 13,14,15 year old running street cars with an adult . The last to are good for the track because of no purse to pay and we need to get more people into drag racing before it dies . thank you for your time and patience for reading my blathering . What else am I going to do with no drag racing this time of year.

So if I understand right. You (by your own words) dont think you are good enough driver to run Pro with a footbrake car. YOUR WRONG. I got no idea who you are but your are wrong. Keep reading before you get pissed at me. I got a good point coming I promise LOL. So you want another class added for footbrake only cars. Guess what. If they start a footbrake class there are going to be sharks there. I am no shark but I will be there. And the real sharks will be there too. I dont think too many will say I am struggling to run pro in a Footbrake car. Changing rules/classes is not going to help you. You just need to practice, practice, practice. Next time we are at the same track together. Come on over and I will give you some hints and hopefully some of them will work for you and your car and get your confidence up. Which with a little practice and getting to know what your car does under differnt conditions will make you not worry about who or what is on the other lane. Trust me if a dumb ass like me can do it anybody can. No need to waste the money that I have wasted either. You can do it.

Ah no problem douhboy692 just good clean fun posting on the old web. If you know Dan Smith you have probably have seen me with him my name is John Feikert . I go to alot of races with Dan to help out with his cars , its a lot of fun and I learn a lot from him , but thank you for the offer , it was a big learning curve when I had Dan build me a motor to go from mid 12s to mid 10s but its been a lot of fun doing it doing it. last year was the first year the car was legal for the et and trap speed , the year before I only ran it a couple of times because I was afraid to get caught with out the cage and safety equipment and I would be told to leave haha . Once i can find the tree and not go red 7 out of 10 time (seeing red ) I'll be off and running . The car just leaves so much harder now I just have to train to see the tree different and not anticipate the third yellow I'll be there.

I'm just as guilty of sidetracking it. But it looks like this thread is dead anyways. I kind of figured someone would have something to say about what I posted as far as what I found out at the car show. I apologize for the sidetracking of the thread.
