I like outlaw myself. NHRA is all about sticking it to the Sportsman Racer in my opinion.

If safety isn't compromised the outlaw deal is Ok with me BUT I have seen firsthand some non-sanctioned tracks are just plain scary.
Personally if I were looking at a track to get ideas from it would be Lyons IN.

I'm with George...if it helps the track by keeping more revenue for improvements and they can keep from becoming another No Limit (US42) dragway....I say Outlaw.
NHRA is a greedy peace of trash organization anymore. JMHO

I like the outlaw idea, maybe without all the extra money going to NHRA we could drop the entry a couple bucks and maybe bump the payout if there are enough cars. Also if we are going outlaw I say do away with the current categories, maybe go with a box class, no box class, all footbrake any et, and true street as a novice/beginner class.I would also go with allowing double entrys with two colors for the box and nobox cars.

If any of you have insurance on your operation, better check if they cover you on a outlaw track. At best your premiums will increase.

I have several questions.
1 will there still be insurance?
2 what will the rules be and how tight will they be enforced?
3 who will actually make the choice, a few select people or the majority?

Im only asking this because I dont know. When people talk about insurance and NHRA....what are you talking about.I have heard people talk about being an NHRA member and if something happened like an accident that there would be some kind of assistance to that racer? It seems like a very grey area that nobody knows much about but always makes it seem like it is a deal breaker when deciding to be sanctioned or non sanctioned. Is there something in black and white somewhere that says NHRA will assist racers with medical bills and such?

Nevermind...I found it on the NHRA website under claims. That doesnt change my opinion on switching to an outlaw style track.I say go for it.

Well not place to say, just opinion of 'outlaw' tracks in general, safety tends to be the place to gets cut, 'honor systems may work til someone gets hurt, as for insurance thru NHRA, there are some good things that needs to be looked at before any great decision is reached!! How ever you feel about the NHRA, they are the best league to be in. jmo

it may be best to leave everything as it is for now, since things seem to finally be going smoothly.
