This past weekend at GMP a racer and car running 6.0 No window net No gloves No neck collar Etc etc Just amazed me . This stuff doesn't bother me at all. It can only hurt the driver. Now if he has stock axles them I don't like it. I'm sure someone will say lawsuit that will close the track. I've personally never seen or heard of this actually taking place. Sorry. But this stuff does bother me! It's not just the attitude of well it only hurts the driver is not true At all! It hurts the sport totally. Once tracks gains reputation hey bring out what ever junk you got come run it, we don't care , then the track demise is a sure thing. You have to have some sort of rules in place. It's called liability, negligence, no care if I get hurt , or you get hurt. Everyone involved is hurt

One of the strictest race track I've raced at was MAR. They wouldn't let anything slide. Yes I complained that my street car 66 nova with 5 point seat belts was not going to pass tech, but if I put my 1966 seat belts back in it would pass tech. That was overboard but all other rules I have no problem with. It's funny everyone misses MAR now even with strict tech.

This could not be more wrong. The tracks with least rules have the most cars and have been in business the longest. Look at George Rays drag strip for example. They have been racing for over 60 years with very few rules.
Look at Gateway. Most rules, least cars and have been closed down one time already.

We all have to take responsibility of our own equipment and actions. 1st and foremost. We should not/can not assume somebody else is going to do it for us. It is all fun and games until something bad happens. The sport can be hazardous. I still say you are safer at a racetrack, in a racecar, going 150 than you are on 270 at 7:30 am going 65.
Be a responsible racer. If you aren't sure about something ask somebody who knows (no question). Keep up with it. The guy in the other lane is counting on you doing your job.
And like Tim Mcamis says, "If the guy in the other lane is a window licking f***tard back your s*** out!"

It was finished two weeks prior. It has been being built over last several years. I agree the throttle should not have been floored on the return road however we don't know it was perhaps it was only placed a quarter way down to gain some speed. It wouldn't take much mph to do that damage. I don't know of many people that idle back. Maybe he made an error and maybe he didn't other than not going neutral. I don't know I wasn't there. Just seems like a lot of people piling on the driver and track without all info present. Driver should be in control of vehicle at all times . At some point if his action he became a passenger in no return action. He caused this issue , he should thank God the kid in that shed got out before hitting it destroyed it . All avoidable, never should happen . I've seen all kinds of things we all do in pits , when something bad does happens we will try to explain it away. Pile on the driver , won't pile on . This should provide all if us a sence of what am I doing , do I have to do it was that necessary. We all hate saftey , there are reasons for rules , even if no one checks your cars , I didn't say there wasn't fault just that the lack of tech did not contribute. My point was we don't know what actually happened. Perhaps he floored it perhaps a needle was running in and in an effort to keep it running throttle got wedged and it cleaned up. Don't know. Plus we don't know if he hit the shack at 25 mph or 60mph. Also at that track they walk 20 feet out into the road to hand you your skip perhaps that is why he aimed it towards the shack. All speculation of course which is my point we don't know the details.

Everyone involved is hurt This is not true the greatest majority of track don't operate under a HRA organization and even most of those that do don't follow all the rules. Beechbend had over 200 cars on a regular bracket race multiple times this year. There is no tech and it is an NHRA track. No more incidents then anywhere else. If someone wants to drive their 4.50 car with shorts on it can't hurt me.

My issue with safety equipment is this. It's 95 degrees outside any car faster then 6.40 must wear a -5 fire suit neck brace and gloves. If you choose to go that fast you should sweat your ars off just like me. The out of date shields I don't have a problem with. Mine are up to date. My cars have never been checked for neutral safety switches at any track except MAR. Yes mine work I will pass tech except for top sportsman I do not have the enclosed drive shaft loop. My point is we all are responsible for our own car to be sure it's safe. A few cars have been tore up bad from improperly working neutral safety switches. If you don't care about obvious safety equipment what else isn't right?

I thought I'd take this opportunity to brag about my wife who earned her license to practice law in the State of Missouri on September 12, 2018.
She tells me, "when you go racing don't F. up"

She tells me, "when you go racing don't F. up" Passing the bar is a great accomplishment - congratulations to her! Will we see her on "Suits" any time soon?
