Ken --
I currently run 110 in my Street ET/Pro car, that is street legal.
Would E85 be THE way to go, gaining torque, lower cost per gallon, ability to pump it into my car, etc.
I've heard E85 is compatible with all fuel systems, only requiring carb gasket changeover and enough volume capability to flow 30% more fuel.
I've also heard E85 does not attack aluminum, but I've also heard it will attack it. What's the truth?
What would it cost to change over a double-pumper to flow E85?
Thanks in advance,
Tim

Tim E-85 will make more power and torque it is slightly corrosive but we have been putting a Castor based upper lube with the fuel (12oz to 55 gal) with no corrosion at all. The price to convert the carb is $450.00 t0 $550. depending on the carb that we start with. (there are metering plate changes, booster changes, air bleed changes, different needle and seats, and in some cases floats involved in the conversion)[/color]

i ken,, dennis here,, friend rich saywer,, have 750 olchol, you did several years ago, would i lose et/hp going from alcohol to e 85, and rumor mill is ramping up that the e 85 they are using now ,, will not be the same in the next couple years or in fact maybe next year,,?? because the people who own these flex fuel vehicles, and citys are not using it as was projected!! if they indeed change the formula,, to something diffrent what will this do to us guys that are now on this e 85 and what will have to be done to adjust, i know hard to answer this because as of this write , we dont know for sure,, any ideas on this thanks

E-85 will usually pick up a well tuned gas set up a .10 to.15 it works its best at 12.5 to one compression or less. It is slightly corrosive but not as bad as methanol (we use an upper lube just to play it safe) It requires a little better fuel system than gasoline (I usually recommend at least 200 GPH pump good regulator at least 1/2 inch line from front to back and # 8 lines to the carb) In most cases methanol is quicker than E-85 by about .10 both are very consistent with the right set up and tune up. E-85 very from load to load so you should by your fuel in quantity (a drum at a time) the concept of backing up to the gas pump and going racing doesn't work well for consistency. As far as the fuel blend changing if it would change to a blend with more Ethanol 10 -15 percent more it would require a different tune up but the carb mods for E-85 would be OK HOPE I WAS SOME HELP

Justus Daniels is Heath Daniels dad. They have a web site raceone85.com that you can order a kit to change your carb to run on E85 yourself or they can redo it for you. I switch my Demon carb over with the kit 2 years ago and have had no problems. They sent what they said was needed for idle and high speed air bleeds, and the jet size recomended was very close. My pinto stepped up a tenth and 1mph in the 1/4, runs cooler and is more consistent.
