The information on the promoter's site (http://www.streetcarsupernationals.com/race-info---st-louis.html) says there is a test and tune wed from 5pm til midnight. Fee is $150. I might have missed this up above in the discussion. Anybody know if this is happening?

I raced this event last year. If I remember right there were single digits in super pro one day and low teens the other. Even with the bracket classes there was a substantial amount of down time. Pretty cool event though.
I will be passing on this years event. The "fees" are getting out of hand. Just charge a damn entry fee and stop trying to run one by people, leaving them with a bitter taste in their mouth. GMP is starting to remind me a lot of directv. Everyone knows you aren't gonna be paying 19.99 a month for satellite lol

Gateway has nothing to do with running this event. This is an association out of California and the extra fee's is their way of doing things not Gateway. I know it says there is a racers fee on the superbucks flyer, but if that is the case that will be the 1st event ever that I can remember Gateway has put on, charging a fee. Not sure why everyone is acting like this is becoming a norm there when they have not had an event where they have did it yet.

Gateway collects the initial $80. The class entry fee is paid at the SCSN trailer. I assumed GMP was responsible for the $80 "racer fee.

Im not sure if Gmp gets the $80 or not or if this is a rental? Either way it doesn't really matter. I will be supporting this race because it is a good show, gateway is my home track and I'm a homer . Plus they stand by their word on class payments not like the xdrl. I was the only car in mustang madness and they did not screw me by putting me in open comp . I made a single and got my $750 in cash no taxes ! Plus I sold the contingency for and extra $300 not bad for one pass! Plus they pay cash in every class ! Very nice people that run the race . They will come and tech your car in the trailer.

Yes, not the norm for a normal bracket race but appears to be becoming the norm for "special events" there... NMCA (last year), SCSN (last year and this year), SUPER CHEVY (this year at GMP), SUPERBUCKS (this year at GMP). Is it coincidence or becoming a pattern? Spectator fees for these "special events" also seem to get bigger every year. Scott

They will adjust the fees they did last year if I remember . We made plans when they didn't have the bracket race on the schedule . Good luck all .

If you think about it, the $155 for timeruns on Thursday, a race on Friday with $1000 to win, and a race on Saturday with $1000 to win that is guaranteed is not great, but also is not as bad as we are making out to be when you factor in the rest of the show that is going on. The people putting this race on are coming from an area that pays 75-100 entry fee's to race for 800-1000 to win. Heck many guys just raced the NHRA divisional race that was around $150 entry for $1000 to win and then look at the entry and payout on the NHRA nation event.

The problem is there is real competition right now from other tracks who are paying out just as well or better, guaranteed purse and much lower entry fees.

You are correct Jim. Well I am not sure if I am going, seems I am not sure my car will go down the track. That is a lot of money to spend and not know if you can even race your car.
