Whatever they decide,( hopefully before the season starts )...they need to stick with it the WHOLE year.

Maybe go 1/4 mile for the first half of the year and then 1/8 mile the last half of the year before indy? That would be different They did that in '96. We started the season 1/4. Then dropped back to 1/8 due to construction. When we came back from Indy we raced 1/4 on the new track.

Why would you want to run 1/8 mile? This is one of the only 1/4 tracks that is close. I understand that 1/8 is less wear and tear on the cars, but we should enjoy the 1/4 while we have it This is the only 1/4 mile track around 1/8 mile is not easier on any part! Nothing is different most breakage happens in that 1/8 mile Its not a quicker program thats a myth and pipe dream As for the rest of it being a ride? Your right. Its the thrill of going 0-1320 as fast as you can I would hate that just because a few super pro cars that they have dictate what everyone else wants to race at This is the last track around that does run quarter mile I congratulate them for keeping history alive for those of us who believe drag racing should be kept and ran on a 1/4 mile track

I know we have not run that many times in the last few years and personally it does not make a difference to me which way it goes. That being said it seems to me that S/P points should be 1/8th mile since and correct me if I'm wrong Indy S/P is run 1/8th mi. Just seems to me that it would make it harder for the racers to run all year 1/4 mi. to qualify for Indy and then have to switch 1/8th.

I hate to be a butthead about this, but it is the truth that they have taken away from all the other classes to try and build back the super pro class and as much as I still love racing in Super Pro, I don't think they are ever going to build the class back to what it once was.

Please tell me how Gmp has took money from sportsman and pro to make the superpro class so much better more appealing?

For 2014 they raised the pay out in S/P and lowered it in Pro and Sportsman didn't they? Why would you do that when Pro has had more cars for years.

Yes Jason, they raised the tier system for super pro and lowered it for all other classes.

IMO they will continue to do so until they see a decline in those classes. The super pro crowd have shown their displeasure with payouts by not showing up,therefore they made an effort to correct that. At the risk of pissing some off I will once again point out that some in pro and street would show up for a flaming bag of dog s**t for a prize. There are serious contradictions in the mind sets of these classes and the super pro crowd is just not responding to the lame payout and effort being put forth, they have other choices and are exercising their rights to go elsewhere. I believe that is why they have adjusted the payouts to favor super pro. To further my point they cut the payout in these classes and more showed up! What would you do? Not trying to bash anyone or any other classes but this is how I see it

Some would probably show up for a bag of dog schytt that wasn't even on fire. Your point is on the mark and well taken.

They actually cut the payout in every class alittle bit and raised the buyback. And Tim makes a good point that most of the superpro guys will just drive somewhere else .

If the price of gas stays low, it will be interesting to see how it affects car counts. Will racers be more willing to travel to GMP or will racers at GMP be more likely to race elsewhere.

I would reward class's for more showing up . How come you can get a sportsman car to make 20 pass's on TNT then buy one tech card on Sat . Then most will not run the Mega bucks race ?
I really doubt thats not why S/P cars aren't showing because of the purse . We in the STL area are spoiled to have a nice place and QTR mile I'm glad.
Throw this in the pot Make all TNT and other events 8th mile .See where that goes .

I may be wrong but it seams like pro guys are more up for keeping points 1/4 mile and that's not a bad thing. But I think superpro is the opposite . Since EVERY big buck race for top bulbers is 1/8 mile , my vote would be keep every class 1/4 mile except superpro. Something needs to change in superpro because its on life support at GMP . Even sportsman has more cars now. Maybe it's also time to separate dragsters front door cars for the first two or three rounds or until the ladder. Heck one reason that I'm switching from super pro in 2015 is due to boredom racing the same cars the same Lane year after year.
