I heard they let Big Paul go at the time slips booth. I hate to hear that, Paul loved being at the track and was there every weekend, he knew his job and was a asset to the track, he not only knew how to set the timing system up but also knew the scoreboards like the back of his hand. You could also count on him checking the track for oil or debris.

big paul is a nice job, and was very good at being alert.. theres much more to that job than just handing out tickets.

i had heard that he was told to go help the track employees last weekend during the " timing malfunction" and when he reminded the staff that he was fired, and was no longer an employee and obligated to help anyone, that the staff told them he would be asked to leave if he didnt help. i doubt he comes around too much with that kind of treatment and i wouldnt blame him.

Paul is an EXTREMELY nice guy and Im sorry to see he was let go. I hope they (CID) seriously consider bringing him back. He is definitely an asset to the track. Idk if it's just me, but it seems they are trying to get rid of the people who have worked there and trying to get "their" people in...I can easily be wrong though...

You heard right, After being contacted by phone and told he was fired, Paul showed up on Sunday and paid his addmission and came in, he was visiting with the Murphy's when LA came to him and told him Greg needed his help setting up the scoreboards and infereds. (reason they didn't start until 11:30) Paul reminded her that he had been fired and no longer worked for the track, she then told him if he wouldn't help he would have to leave the property, Paul refused saying he paid his addmission just like all of the other spectators. Pau has a bad back (comes with age) he was told he was fired because they were affraid if he hurt his back he would try and turn in a workmans comp claim. If your affraid of workmans comp claims maybe you shouldn't be in business where you have employee's. They fired him for this reason but let kids work in the burnout box? probably got a kid working time slips now, just as dangerous of an area.... go figure.

Well the reason , if it was that? is against the law , can't say can't do it, just you will lose with labor board! and a liability would exist!! a very large suit could be filed! this will apply even if part time! 3 tracks in some kind of turmoil again!! just do not understand!!! Why is it so hard!! ?

paul always really payed attention to the track, if paul would have been working when chad wrecked he would have been the first one over the wall to turn off the power to the car, instead they have a inexperienced girl working the timeslip booth, probably never even been to a drag race yet alone know what to do in that kind of situation. very bad decision by the management. So the thought he didnt have the back to hand out timeslips, but that his back was good enough to have him scraping the track a few weeks ago?

That's what I was thinking too, First off it's not hard... it's a place of business and just because a guy is getting older and maybe his back isn't what it used to be, he can still do his job... He may just be upset enough to talk to an Attorney. Paul's worked for the track for several years and he did a good job... he was always on time and knew how to fix the scoreboards when they acted up and align the infereds when they got moved. And you could always reley on him to go check the track if a car was smoking through the lights. I know giving out time slips isn't that tough but there's a lot more to it when you cover other areas like he did.

Sounds like they wrongly fired the guy that knows the business so they can put a friend in time slips Just wait until she starts handing out the wrong time slips.

are you kidding me ? Paul was always there on time if not early and not only doing his job and doing it very well he would do anything that needed to be done at the track. there is so much more than handing out e.t. slips to Paul's job that is vital to having a successful and safe race day at the track. who ever suggested that Paul be fired should be slapped upside the head and who ever made the decision needs more than that and then after they fire him and he PAYS his way into the track the next weekend they tell him that if he doesn't help them he has to leave ?. i was thiking that management might have had a brain fart but its much worse than that because this isn't the only bad decision they have made, i think its dark and smells like shxt where they have their head stuck. i have not talked to Paul but i'm sure he will be fine, he didn't work there because he needed to he did it because he enjoyed it and was very good at it......i wish i could say that this move shocked me but it didn't really, i see from afar a pattern where ego trumps all else
