After Accelaquarter announced it was closing on it's Facebook page earlier this spring some of the comments from racers amazed me but not in a good way lol with that said , I seen a comment from a racer saying the owner should pay the gold card holders money since they won't be able to use them this year since the track isn't opening . this seems unreasonable to me am I wrong ?

You're not wrong. If the owner had to close (which it's likely financial reasons) then the racers will just have to accept that. Asking for a refund for the 'Gold' cards and wanting money from the owner when obviously they may not have it, is like kicking a guy when they are already down on the ground.

I disagree. Last year the racers entered points knowing one of the prizes was a gold card that had a value of several hundred dollars. They spent their money to win a prize now they don’t get it. It’s no different than if their check bounced imo. From what I understand the owner has plenty of $

When Gateway closed I doubt they gave anyone money for their " Gold Card" It's not personal it's business

It is business. I pay my debt. I don’t tell people I’m going to give them something I’m not just to trick them into spending more money with me. They supported the track in good faith and were stolen from.

Linda and others tried to do something nice for everybody at the SLRFC banquet. And that was very much appreciated. Especially the JR/D kids. Meg was an 8-9 yr old champ that year.

What’s the different then they were racing they were racing for a prize of future value. They value of such is now zero. Can I write a check and a week later when they go to cash it is worth zero bc of insufficsnt funds. Can I just then say too bad I’m broke now?

Yep I’m sure everyone on here has been burned by a track or promoter saying basically “to bad so sad “ mine was the XDRL $1000 runner up and they said we fold. Not cool

I'm not sure how I really feel on this, because there is no set value of a gold card. It would be like having a $500 gift certificate to joe blow company and they shut the doors and go under before you use it, your just out and not much that can be done. It does suck to those that thought they were going to have a season of free entry.

This is correct, Clay. It happens all the time.
I've been burned several times in business by people closing down or walking away while owing me quite a bit of money. People I didn't think would screw me over. Difference is, I provided goods and services and got nothing in return. The disadvantage of doing work on 'Open Account.
The racers could sue. It would be a waste of money and they would likely lose the lawsuit anyway.

Remember Mike Shanks and his wife set up a racer banquet for us? And Radical Rich got uh, a little carried away on the mic. I think Dr Phillips and Mr Corzine had to escort him off the stage.

Bad business people with bad intentions, probably from the get-go. It's all about the money, no matter how they get it. Sad when it happens. Hopefully, Karma did or will catch up with them. It usually does.
