you don't listen to your transmission builder about how to do a proper burnout with a TH400. I am very curious, Tom, as to the proper way to do a burnout with a T-400? Have heard many variations and also know how I did them.

Start off in 2nd gear. Start in the water if you have to. As soon as the tires are spinning shift to 3rd. Finish in 3rd by rolling off the throttle nice n easy. Roll forward toward the line. Shift to low. Stage car and race like normal. Furthermore, NEVER, EVER neutral a 3 speed in the shut down. Always coast down in 3rd with the engine running. When it's a safe speed shift to low and go get your ET slip. Hopefully it's a winner ;-)

Coan and TCI say to start in 3rd gear. and agree never shift to neutral. Things tend to explode

But what can happen is guys don't realize they haven't gotten the tires spinning and just hold it at 5000 on the converter. If you can do it successfully starting in 3rd every time, no problem.
