Tried to contact GMP but have gotten no response yet as to when they are going to have another lic. day along with when they will be running this class. Does any one have any info on the Jr. street class. Grandson is itching to do it again.

Any one else going to be there this Friday for Jr.Street. Bringing Grandma's truck over for the grandson. Don't know what the schedule is but he is chomping at the bit to keep doing it. Better than the altered which the engine is in pieces waiting for parts and the will to put them in LOL

Me and my daughter will not make this weeks race, she has a big dance competition all weekend and seems I spend 7-8 grand a year on dance for her its the priority right now.

Friday was good news / bad news. Good news is my grandson completed the required passes and had his paper work signed off on. Bad news is on the way back to the pit after the last pass the brake pedal went to the floor. Naturally the master cly. is under the floor board with no access. Nothing is ever easy. So to recap Altered's parts ordered and engine being fixed, Jr. Str. brakes being fixe'd when time. Are we having fun yet. (Yes my grandson is!!) Not so much grandpa;(

It seems lack of support/ participation may doom the Jr. Street class. It seems there was an underwelming response for what ever reason to this class, so it does not appear there will be a class until September for the kids to run in. Deb with GMP is trying to see if they can work something out with the Saturday program which would make sense as parents/grandparents might be running in the bracket program. They also are going to let the kids run T/T on Wed. Let's hope something can be worked out so a great opportunity and an alternate to the cost of Jr dragsters will not be lost and bring kids into the sport. I know my grandson is disappointed since he mucked horse stalls to earn the $60 for the lic.

I agree. The junior dragster thing is on big pain in the butt. From my perspective. Extremely loud, very expensive, a ton of maintaining in between rounds all for a trophy. And I can count on one hand the number of kids that have been racing in the class since 1997 that are still drag racing. The get burnt out or discover the opposite sex or whatever reason they bail on drag racing. Junior street should be far superior.

One good thing about Friday night was my grandson had a great time and was able to make 6 passes although he was glad he had a full helmet to hid behind as he had to drive my Ford dually instead of Grandma's '51 Chevy. He wants to keep running Jr St. it's just to bad there is no Jr. St. He was the only one there Friday, so no class. It seems to me that the only way you are going to build this class is to have it on a Saturday with the regular bracket program. It's hard for parents to take their kids Friday night then come back over Saturday for the regular program. Since most of the kids that would participate have parents that are running the bracket program. When we get our car back together SOON I'll do what ever so he can race but it just would be easier for most to combine it. It wouldn't take hardly any time as when they were doing lic. runs there were only 5 or so. But by moving it to Saturday it may spark more interest. The economics is there as it is WAY cheaper to run a street car than buy a Jr. dragster. I'll keep hoping. As a side note the mice in the exhaust got a heck of a ride down the track, the sound from the video said it all. Need to start covering the tail pipe and get more cats!!

I had no idea they were running jr street last Friday or I would have brought my daughter over. I am not sure they really want to have that class to be honest. If they want to make that class grow, I don't think the day of the week is near as important as promoting and getting the info out to everyone.

I wouldn't have known if Dennis hadn't told me about it after a post. You are correct about promoting. After we filled out the tech card with all the information even his competition lic. number they came over after a couple passes and said he needed to fill out the forms to run. Showed them his lic and all was good but makes you wonder.
