For those of you who tow long distances on a regular basis: Having towed across the State of Missouri many, many times on the way to KCIR I have learned through experience just how weight distribution systems can effect the reliability of your trailer tires. Over the years I have blown a number of tires and it has always been the tire in the rear of the tandem axle setup. These are the tires which see the additional weight distributed by the system. Every time you hit a bump or woop-d-doo, the weight distribution system forces even more weight on to the rear trailer tires as well as the front tires of the tow vehicle. Making a long story short - 2 things can lead to blown trailer tires: Too much speed and a weight distributing hitch. I use the WDH with my truck but do not use it with my motor coach. The motor coach can handle the tongue weight better and weighs way more than my race trailer. The only thing I use with the MC is the sway control. BTW: If you blow a tire on a tandem axle system, replace both tires on that side. The sudden overload you put on the tire that does not blow ruins it, and it WILL blow soon. Also, keep it below 65, the speed rating of most every trailer tire. Again, experience. Steve
