Hi Everyone,
It's been awhile since I've been on here/posted. Unfortunately, it's to post some not so good news.
I know a few of you are already aware of the situation, but for those that don't know... David Gamber (former Sportsman racer) is having surgery this Tuesday, the 26th to remove another brain tumor. The tumor grew back around his good eye and the surgeons said he would loose sight if they remove the whole tumor and if they don't operate he would eventually still lose his vision. Now, the plan is to leave 20-25% of the tumor, to avoid the optic nerves and hopefully he will keep his eye sight. Then I think they are planning on doing another surgery (radial surgery) at a later date to try to remove more of the tumor.
The family asks not to be contacted at this time, and please no posts on facebook. Steve or I will keep you all updated!
Thanks, Sheri

Hate to hear this . I was thinking of Dave yesterday when I was thinking of former gateway division champions! Your dad is a great man and was one of the best sportsman racers gateway ever had. We are praying for good results . This will go no further than your racing FAMILY.

Prayers from Camdup. Get well soon!
And there is no such thing as a "former racer" in my book ;-)

Update:
He went into surgery around 8:30am and was out of surgery around 1:30pm. It sounds like everything went fine and the surgeon says he thinks he was able to get about 90% of the tumor, which is more than we were expecting. They will do an MRI tomorrow to see how everything looks and to see actually how much of it he removed. Also the tumor is benign. They woke my dad up and he didn't say much but he was able to mimic how many fingers the doctor held up, so it looks like he still has his vision so far... if there is any swelling, that might change. He is still kind of out of it, so he doesn't know the date, names, etc. and his speech is slurred. He is currently in ICU. The nurse said they only expect him to be in the hospital for 3 days. So we will see.

Thanks much for the update, Sheri. I apologize if my spelling of your name is incorrect. That seems to be very good news. I am praying for the best of outcomes for Dave. Glad to see that the tumor was benign. Hoping his eyesight stays intact. Please keep the updates coming when you can. Give him our best wishes.

As of last night as of 9 pm Dave was doing better. His voice was good, motor skills were good, was starting to get some memory (as in peoples names and what day it was) back which is all good. So far he seems to be farther along than his last surgery 5 years ago
