Well it has always been against the law,,Most tickets are already over the $100 limit, so I would say, that they just advertising it more. Plus they are focusing on the National Bike week deal too with all the complaints from last year Bike Run !! We used to write that ticket as a wreckless driving charge,, then the states attorney would drop it to careless driving,, That way get caught doing it again , fines would be as much as $1,500. They waste more time writing new laws ,, when all they really have to do is inforce the ones they have,, which is plenty!! Instead of fining people to death, raising taxes and everything,, why don't they try their hand at Job building and manufacturing retaining?? I forgot,, they are not good at that !! LOL

Even the handle bars height was and has been a law since before 1985! The handle bars could not be any higher than the shoulder! so all those ape hangers and such are against the law , just that no-one really enforced them! but motorcyles are supposed to have mufflers too not straight pipes or headers, It is just funny how some thing old is now new again !! LOL OO well,, I guess they have to earn their money some how , and show us their are doing something HA HA LOL

Dennis, that handle bar law went back into the middle 60's.
As far as loud exhaust, at least the other motorist can hear you. I find a pair of straight pipes on a bike to be less offense than a set of cackle mufflers on a truck or that damn THUMP THUMP THUMP OF A SO CALLED STEREO.
