I was told last night at Gateway that I needed metal valve stems on my car going 11.99 or faster. Can anyone point me to the rule book that says this? Not arguing, but I don't recall seeing this anywhere. Thanks.

5:1 TIRES Tires will be visually checked for condition, pressure, etc. and must be considered free of defects by the technical inspector prior to any run. All street tires must have a minimum of 1/16-inch tread depth. Temporary spares, space saver spares, farm implement or trailer tires prohibited. Metal, screw-in valve stems mandatory in tubeless tires, front and rear, on vehicles running 11.99 or quicker.

gateway tech is bone heads but trying,if you question something, tell them to pull out the rule book, which they should carry in there back pockets 440 Dart. Normally I never reply to bone headed comments on any forum but I will in this case. Yes, I pulled out my NHRA Rule book that was in my back pocket and if you would do the same you will read in Section 20 page 28 in the General Regulations it states , Metal, screw in valve stems mandatory in tubeless tires, front and rear, on vehicles running 11.99 or quicker. Or by chance you could read the post above that has already covered your question. My last statement and I will not reply to this post again. WHO is the bone head now? I would rather talk to people who have an issue with Tech one on one in person. Vince Tosto Tech Director GatewayMSP

"Temporary spares, space saver spares, farm implement or trailer tires prohibited." This means they had to make a rule because somebody actually did it.

Imagine the burnout you could do with some doughnut tires.

It states you will need to cover doors with material other than magnesium also explains that holes in the firewall need to be covered.

I have a question. Was standing in the staging lanes at Gateway last weekend and saw I think his name is Scott McCardy had an 8.22 dialed on his Roadster but was only wearing a single layer jacket and pants. I thought the rules said that 9.99 and quicker had to wear 3.2 A-5 Jacket and pants? If he can do then so am I, that 5 layer crap is hot.

I don't know Scotty but if you saw w333's new suit, you'd think it was a single layer. It's a GForce 545. Not cheap but very lightweight.

My dash 5 impact is thinner than alot of cheap dash 1 jackets. As far as skating the rules and waering a thin one go ahead as it will be your ass that feels the burn. I know when i was upside down and on fire i was happy to have all the safety equipment work.

Very nice and very lightweight. Not near as hot as the cheaper -5 suits. Wish I would have made the switch a long time ago. Scott
