Does any one know of big block twin turbos with inter-coolers being used on an altered. Has it been done? and what if any consideration for rules, shields for the exposed turbos. I'm thinking of converting but logistics are problematic. Location of inter-cooler for one. Don't have a lot of room.

Most altereds have some type of nose piece on them. Hide it under there

Why not run methanol and eliminate the need for an intercooler?
As for NHRA rules, there are very few rules specifically for turbos. If the turbos are outside the bodywork, I'd look into getting a blanket for them. It'll help hold the heat in on the exhaust housing and guard against shrapnel in case of a failure.
I'd also make sure to route the exhaust in a manner so you can't dump oil on the tires if a bearing or seal should fail in the turbo.

After staring at the chassis for 1/2 a night I'm not sure I can get it all to fit. There is no room in the nose for anything. The computer and fire bottle are up there along with the radiator, fan and 4qt. heat sink for the trans. I'm trying to figure out if I can get the turbos in front of the motor (this is a twin turbo motor. ) I've been looking on line to see if any one else has done this so I don't have to re-invent the wheel. This has got to be the way to go. You can tune the h.p. According to Nelson racing in California 1500 with 91octaine and 2500 with a combination gas/ methanol.

I've made quite a few runs against your car. I always liked it. The car is very well engineered and clean. It goes straight and runs the number. I guess what I'm saying is.............Why mess with it!! It seems to be a winning combo. Unless your kinda like me and just can't leave well enough alone.

My son says the same thing. The problem is I always want to try something new which does not always work out.

Yep. But I have more than enough parts to build another motor. It's amazing how much you collect over the years and cubby hole away. Actually didn't know I had this much 'till I started rooting around. Just trying to see if I can make this work. I still have another Ron's injection system complete with manifold less a fuel pump. If I can't get into the 4's I'll be unhappy. I was this close (5.14 )

Just a up date. After serious review, the turbo experiment will be a dream down the road. So now we are picking up our new 632 inch engine next week and will be trying to get it set up. We are hoping for the 4.7 range

As we all know some things look great on paper but in real life require a lot of modification to work properly. It sounds like the Turbo motor not fitting is a blessing in disguise. I'm sure your new 632 will be just what the doctor ordered to put the car in the mid 4's.
