Earnhardt Jr. draws the pole for the Budweiser Shootout

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Dale Earnhardt Jr. had the lucky draw on Friday night at the Budweiser Shootout Draw Party.
Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, drew the lucky Budweiser bottle with the pole position for Saturday’s Budweiser Shootout, the star-studded NASCAR Sprint Cup Series non-points race set for Saturday night at 8:10 p.m.
“I’ll take it,” said Earnhardt Jr., the 2004 Daytona 500 champion.
On the outside pole will be two-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart, who will be behind the wheel of the No. 14 Stewart-Hass Racing Chevrolet.
Rounding out the top five in the Draw Party were Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin and Kasey Kahne.
The Budweiser Shootout is the climax to a racing doubleheader. The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is set for 4:30 p.m. followed by the Budweiser Shootout at 8:10 p.m., which will feature former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions, the 2010 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup field, a host of former outstanding rookies and a collection of previous winners at Daytona International Speedway.
The Budweiser Shootout will be run in segments of 25 and 50 laps, with a 10-minute break between. Green-flag and caution laps count toward the total.
Other notable starting spots include 2008 Daytona 500 champion Ryan Newman (8th), three-time Daytona 500 champion Jeff Gordon (12th), 2010 Daytona 500 champion Jamie McMurray (14th), 2007 Daytona 500 champion and driver of the No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet Kevin Harvick (18th), Kyle Busch (21st) and five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson (23rd).
