Does anybody remember back in the early '70s when we ran 6 - 7 bikes at a time (per heat) in an indoor horse arena. We ran "short track" in several area horse arenas. The classes were 100cc, 125cc, 175cc, and 250cc. Al Steele and his DT1 250 Yamaha on a Neil Keene flat track frame were number one in the nation for a couple of years in AMA flat track mainly because he was unbeatable on those indoor short tracks. The straight a ways were so narrow that if you lined up 6 bikes side by side on the straight a way the handle bars would literally touch. A guy named Doug Poston (I think I spelled the last name right) was Al's only real competion in the 250 class. That was some real tight and real rough racin'.
