It was nice to meet the family. They seem very supportive of your racing addiction! You put on a good showing for them Saturday night. We are slowly sneaking up on that red R1. Never give up! I wish I would have seen your wheelie. I was in the motor home when the announcer was getting all kinds of excited about " Denny Slusser lifts the front wheel wayyyyy off the ground about 300' down track and that cost him the round". I was waiting for "please stay off the track, the safety personnel will attend to the downed rider!" That bike makes some serious mid-range power. Like you and I have talked about, your safety comes first. Besides I'm sure Johnboy would jump right in if anything happens to you.

It definitly has midrange power! I was overly agressive with the clutch and throttle. Pannell spots me .24 and our lights were even .012 to .014, but with his slick and wheelie bar he pass'es me within the first 20' and that made me get rid of the clutch and pin the throttle a little too quickly. I think I'm usually about 50-60' out before I'm wide open. It always picks the front wheel up a few inchs as the midrange comes in, but when I'm too aggressive early, it come up too soon and then when the big power comes on it just keeps climbing to the point where I say" uncle" and have to roll off the gas a little. Its weird racing the quicker slick tired bikes. I leave first, then they pass me quickly, then down about 700'-800' I really start charging back on them. I like that! My family (sister, neices, nephews,) all had fun. Bonnie and Savannah enjoyed meeting you guys, but got bored after I was done, so we split. Savannah went with me to get my tech card sticker from Casey, and when Casey teased me about not redlighting or something, Savannah said "I like her"

If the front wheel gets too high, you can hit the horn button to "quick shift" it into the next gear. Maybe that will calm it down instead of lifting on the throttle. I have no proof this will work but its just an idea.
Also I have your shoe polish.

Yes, it works. I guess I've gotten so spoiled with the auto shift on your bike, that I forgot I can still shift it with the button. I have always button shifted my own bikes for that exact reason, "starts to wheelie, poke the button" it might lose a little ET short shifting it, but not near as much as rolling off the gas.
I remembered leaving my dail-in polish with the bike as we were pulling into White Castle.
I'm finally going to race my own bike this year. I'm going to Mo-Kan Dragway next sunday to re-learn how to ride it, then I'm going to Eddyville Iowa at the end of the month for their Memorial Day weekend event.

This is kind of like Denny and John dating the same girl at the same time.
Poor motorcycle being passed around like community property.
