watched a guy in a white mopar crank his car up in reverse in the staging lanes last Saturday. He came about 6" from taking out the whole front end of Billy Stochls (spelling) car. I was in the opposite lane and it scared the crap out of me. After making the run and reflecting on the whole thing I decided to quietly mention the incident to one of our tech officers. I hate to rat someone out, but couldn't help but think what kind of damage that could have done to my new car
ps started car on the wood , it must have lurched backwards 6'

That is one of the most dangerous things that can happen in the lanes or pits. A kid could have been walking by. There is no reason not to have the neutral safety switch hooked-up. Good for you.

On something like that, I think reporting it to tech is the way to go Tim. I have seen many pictures of bad incidents in the pits because of that. Sounds like this was a lucky deal that no car was damaged or anyone was hurt.

Ask Matt Fuchs (70 purple Chevelle) what he would have done. On a Wednesday night a few years ago someone drove up the back of his car in staging lanes . Thousands of $$$$$ damage. Guy said I'll pay to fix. Never got a dime.

You did the right thing. I almost got creamed years ago that way. Car in front of me died at the ticket booth. Wouldn't start. He finally got it started. He had it floored in reverse when it started. He somehow stopped before hitting me. There is just no reason for it.

Might not be a bad idea for tech to try and start every other car in the lanes?
