If all things go well on our road trip this weekend we will be coming back with a new 245" dragster to drop the 632 in. The Altered will be put out to pasture for now, although might be looking for a mild BB to put in it for my grandson. S&^*#t there goes retirement next year.

Not spoiled just want to get and keep the whole family involved. Son in S/P and grandson for now in Jr. Street and then move him into the altered. As far as how mild is mild depends on his interest level. Trying to keep his interest in drag racing. He goes mud boging every weekend with his mud truck that he and his dad built from a junk yard save and since his dad made a pit in the pasture and pumps water from the pond to make it really interesting (Silex gets pretty wild on the weekends) so drag racing is competing with that.

Thanks we really appreciate the complement. Still a work in progress. Need to finish the interior and re paint the cab. For some reason I keep spending money on the race cars and not her's. Greatest wife in the world she has NEVER complained about the money I spend on my cars while her's is not done. 43 years yesterday!!

245" Mullis 4-link swing arm complete less engine but with motor plates. My son has been texting and talking on the phone with the seller all week so we are going Saturday to look at it with intention of buying it, so we / I am hauling the trailer. My son is hot to buy it but my concern is the 24" wide cage. He is a big boy 6'-4" 250+. But what it comes down to is this is his decision. I will try and inject some commons sense. My only issue is I am not familiar with this chassis. I have heard of Mullis but beyond that bupkis and I'm not familiar with what a 4-link swing arm is. The one question I have is does 1975# sound about right for the weight? My son didn't ask if this was with the driver. Our altered with driver weighs 2135#.

Mullis makes some very nice pieces, and the 24" cage I wouldn't sweat it. My car has a 24" cage and my son is 6'4" close to 270 and fits fine. I drive it and I'm 6'1" closer to 300 than I care to admit and get in and out just fine. My car with me in the seat is 2000#'s World Steel blocked 582" so my guess would be 1975# would be with driver. My car is a Gebhardt car and it's a heavy pig. We just did the 4 Link Swing arm thing on mine last winter, yeah it added around 200# but it was well worth it for the ride and the car is so much more consistent.

Thanks. Appreciate the info. We are looking for consistency that escaped us with the ladder bar set up in the altered.

What year is the car? No matter I would remove every panel and check for cracks at the uprights. Is the car on racingjunk? 1975# would be with the driver 24 inch cage is as big as is normally made anything bigger is more of a custom build.

Yes that's the one. If the information is correct the price we are paying for it for should be a good buy, and I don't have to cannilbalise the altered for parts.

Well after a pretty eventful road trip my son is now the proud owner of a dragster or as I call it an engine on a stick. The eventful part was when we were pulling out to come home the fuel pump died. The guys that sold us the car jumped in drove us all around to find a new pump, they dived under the truck in the rain to help and even bought pizza and we couldn't thank them enough!! Got on the road and hit a rain storm around Booneville that I thought would wash us away, then came upon an accident that had 70 closed just past Truxton. Luckily I knew "A" would take us home. Now to start rebuilding the engine and get this family truckster on the road. I now have to decide what I want to do with the altered. Put an engine in it, part it out or sell it out right.

Put a pump gas bbc in it and let the grandson go rounds in pro. Mine is only 8.5 compression, hyd cam and I can run 6.50's.
