Is the NHRA really dumb enough to believe these televised "street race events" are not allowed/encouraged by the local police/community, set up ahead of time, and provided with ambulance and fire protection etc? Or is it more likely that is actually is a popular TV entertainment product that is making great ratings and ...... wait for it .......... profits! I haven't seen a single player on that show not get better equipment every year.
I admit we enjoy watching the show. And nobody believes for a second they are "running from the law". Any more than an honest football fan thinks the Patriots really don't cheat.
Maybe if they got the Force clan on the show it would be OK all of a sudden?

If I'm guessing that letter was to mike Murillo? He is a big NMRA guy that is now jumping ship and heading to the show.

There is about 500 posts on YB about it. All the racers got it. Looks liek NHRA's facbook is getting bomb'd.
Maybe a reality show of the workings of NHRA would work. We all like those FAIL video's on you tube. hahahaha!!

nhra is just mad because street outlaws are more popular in the viewer ratings than they are,,i understand nhra was formed to get street racing off the streets and on the track, everyone I talk to and at work, could care less about watching nhra on tv and much rather watch street outlaws, you don't see ihra opening there mouths and crying there taking ratings away, your never goingh to stop street racing,at any given weekend theres 1000s across America going on,just look at hall st on any given fri-sat-sun night and even in the cold, the racers in street outlaws isn't regular bracket racers or pro or sportsman racers anyway, and im sure don't have no lic, they run a lot at Ozark raceway which is a ihra track

I understand NHRA is all about getting racers away from street racing, but this is a TV show and it is not real! Yes the races may be real, but they are not out on a hidden public road street racing and everyone knows that. Heck, the places they race at has more lighting than most dragstrips I have been too. It is no different than any other reality TV show on nowadays, its not real!

The problem is most people in 2015 that watches these do not have a brain and think this is real so they want to wear black shorts and no socks like these clowns on TV and they try to imitate these people by racing on the street. Just wait till a wannabe "street outlaw" kills a family in a crash while " testing " on some backroad . Then A&E gets sued and the show will toast.

NHRA would have been MUCH better off to just emphasize the show was not in fact illegal and did have safety etc. in place and continue to denounce true uncontrolled street racing.
That would be too smart for those idiots though.

Rap videos glorify all sorts of illegal activities. So do video games. Nobody from the WWF is going to jail if I body slam my neighbor. I don't think the NHRA has much to worry about. Just an over reaction in my opinion. I think the NHRA is taking things a little too seriously. If they were smart, they would talk these guys into doing a reality show for the NHRA instead. They should jump on the reality show wagon.

I watched the show last week for the 1st time it was OK .But then you know my opinion on any real street racing as in my real life loss of racecar, trailer ,truck etc etc . But for NHRA to strong arm the very membership grass roots racer is wrong . They might be hypocritical in their ORG to be called Non for Profit . I posted somewhere they bought NOPI where are they now also didn't they buy another series ?

in the 50s and 60s, did the NHRA kick anyone out for Street Racing? I thought the point was to get people off the streets? And these guys are only pretending to street race. I understand them coming denouncing the show and Street Racing. There was probably a better way to handle it though.
