It's to bad Scott can't have a two day pre race door car deal the week before that may not pay as well but could let some of the new people play for two days ? And the two winners could advance to the next weekends big race?

Imagine, turning people away at the gate because there is just not enough room! Surprising what can happen with a little effort.

Actually, I'm sure there is a great deal of effort involved, but the best part is: no pipe racks allowed with big money! All the door cars help bring in spectators too. You think a pipe-rack only race would bring in as many spectators? Hmmmmmmm....

Nope , I've been saying for a long time dragsters are boring unless they blow the motor in a spectacular fashion or wreck and I don't want to see any one wreck ! Front engine nostalgia sling shots are bitchen if they are short enough , pull the wheels and stuff like that but door cars are what people in the stands can identify with .

Didn't mean to discount the work that goes into an event like this. Especially given all the changes going on at I-57 right now! I'm absolutely impressed at the participation and jelous that I can't jump in the ring! I've raced a lot of big events at I-57. I've even had the pleasure of losing to Bugacki at I-57. For one reason or other, I just haven't made it to these Jegs events. I never dreamed the door would be closed on me! And I'm also surprised that other tracks in the area haven't taken notice and copied.

I'm sure, issues with attending events 100, 200, 300 miles away include time and money. We all know traveling can be very costly and certainly take a great deal of time, both of which some folks just don't have. Jobs to go to, kids to take care of.... I feel very fortunate that our status in life (both retired) allows travel (not to mention my motor coach). Also very fortunate in choosing last year to attend the JDCS for the first time, giving me the opportunity to attend this year. I do wish many more could attend. It's a great time and a chance to visit with many I don't normally otherwise get a chance to see. Sorry you can't be there. Funny how things work out sometimes - Last year, due to Joan's heart surgery we were very limited in how many times we could go racing (went a total of 4 times). We just happen to pick the JDCS as one of them.

I think the big question would be why doesn't Gateway contact luke about hosting a jegs door car race at gateway also .

And no number 2 race spoken here I will assume that it has had talks but quite possible the rent of the track would be an issue As l57 would be a much cheaper venue to lease for a two or three day event And why you see sponsors jumping there and staying The amount they can give can be less so it inviting there

The race doesn't make that much money if you have to pay to rent a track. Also I think the little country track is a draw to done racers.

Jeremy hit the nail on the head. Look at what I57 is doing. Total make over. This race is helping them grow and in return, you are seeing the benfit of it. You will not find a more raacer freindly place. (Unfortunetly, I only get to go there once a year) Now no disrespect to anyone here but, while you would get more cars at Gateway or even Indy....you would not have the downhome feel, customer service, or see improvements as a result. I don't think you could at any other track frankly.
I'm really disappointed that we can't go because I had teh race budgeted in this year but, I really have to hand it to Luke on how he does this. The partnership is helping I57 and the racers love it.
