I'll be there. Went last year and even though I did not do well, we had a blast.

This race is a good time and always brings out a lot of cars you don't see often.

The “Biggest Little Door Car Race in the Midwest” returns to I-57 Dragstrip July 17-19. For the first time in event history, the SDCS will be a pre-entry event. Last season, over 220 competitors from across North America converged on the small Southern Illinois facility, filling I-57 Dragstrip to near capacity. In an effort to keep the JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout manageable and enjoyable for all competitors, we have adopted a unique pre-entry procedure. Details include: • Pre-Entry forms will be mailed to past SDCS participants. These entry forms will be released on a schedule based upon the number of past SDCS events attended (those who have been to more past events will have the first opportunity to enter). Release dates below. • A $100 pre-entry deposit reserves your spot in the SDCS. Deposit can be paid via check or credit card with your entry form. That $100 deposit will apply to entry fees, with the balance to be paid at the event. Your deposit applies to any entry you choose (you don’t have to run all 3 days). • Pre-Entry is 100% refundable. If for any reason you’re unable to attend the event, you’ll receive a full refund ASAP, no questions asked. • The 5th annual SDCS will be limited to the first 225 entrants. • THERE WILL BE NO NEW ENTRIES SOLD AT THE EVENT! Release dates: (Past SDCS Events Attended) Pre-Entry Form Release Dates (4) February 1 (3) March 1 (2) April 1 (1) May 1 Open to new entrants June 1 Over the next five months, pre-entry forms will be mailed to racers who have attended the SDCS in years past. Assuming that 225 entries have not been accepted by June 1, an entry form will be made available to the public, and new competitors may enter at that time. Once 225 entries are accepted, the field will be set and no new entries will be taken. In addition to the new pre-entry format, the 5th annual SDCS offers several new and improved features. For one, the purse has doubled in the Auto Meter Friday Pregame event, as that race will now pay $5,000 to win! Sunset Performance and Ohio Crankshaft will present the Quick 16 and King Of Illinois bonus races, respectively. The SDCS prize vault has grown once again, as in 2015 over $30,000 in prizes will be awarded directly to SDCS competitors (in addition to the $50,000+ guaranteed cash purse). This will also mark the first SDCS in which the popular “Door” Prize program will extend into Friday’s Auto Meter Pregame event. The proof is on the flyer: with increased specialty awards, unprecedented “Door” Prizes, and a deep cash purse, nearly EVERY SDCS competitor will leave I-57 Dragstrip with something of value! Past SDCS entrants, look for your entry form via mail in the coming months. For those of you looking forward to attending the SDCS for the first time in 2015; mark your calendars not only for July 17-19, but also for June 1 for your opportunity to enter the “Biggest Little Door Car Race in the Midwest!” For complete details view the event flyer. First let me qualify my comments by saying I got into the race because I attended last year and sent my entry in as quickly as possible. With that said: Check out the Summer Door Car Shootout FB page...a number of interesting comments regarding the entry list and double entries. Rules say a racer can enter twice but his car can only enter once. To double enter you must have a second car and cannot enter for a buddy. There are 38 double entries. I just cannot believe there are 38 people showing up with two cars. Believe it's more of a misunderstanding of the rules and also believe there will be no double entries allowed next year.

I believe it means two people can drive one car or one person can drive two cars. However one person can't enter same car twice. The buddy thing means I can't use my second entry and let someone drive it. I believe he did this so people that could enter early bought a second one for their buddy who hasn't attended as often. This in turn would fill up the list sooner which would keep some who have attended in the past to enter.

If there wer no doubles then the entry amount would have to be cut. All those aren't bringing two cars. As the doubles are driving each other's cars for the most part. If you cut out 38 od those it would not open up 38 other spots as those pit spots are already taken. I'm sure the doubles were taken into consideration when the max capacity number was planned.

You may be right...whatever the reasoning, the complexities involved with entry into this race will get crazier with each passing year. With the present process there will never again be someone who has only attended one year and even those who have attended before may be locked out sooner or later. To be sure, most individuals who can't get in are going to be disappointed and will find fault with the entry process. I still predict the elimination of double entries in the future (and they will still fill the field). A race as well organized and run as this one will always be a destination.

I do think they would fill the field with singles only. However this will cost them money. For example with singles you and I both take two pit spots for two entries but if we drive each other's car then they get 4 entries for two pit spots. With no doubles they would have to lower these number of entries possible bc their is only so much put space.
If you don't do it by past entries then you run into the problem of someone that has never been to the race keeping out someone who has attended all even before they had the reputation as a great race.

Is the rule that you had to be at last years race or had to have been to some previous years race?

Started with those that have been to all 5 then to any three of four then any two if the four and then any one of 4. Didn't have to be last years.

To make a long conversation short - entering this race in the future under this years' requirements will be like getting season tickets to The Green Bay Packers...someone's gonna hafta die!
