At home yes, as a business I would think you would want a big crowd. As far as wrecking the place, that's why GIR quit doing the button races years ago. They would have to send a cleaning person in to mop up the spilled beer, clean up the empty cans and bottles that people were too lazy to put in the trash cans and pick up cig butts off the floor. We had to completely repaint the room due to people leaning with their backs against the walls and putting a foot on the wall. So if they hold a button race, be respectful of the venue if you want it to continue. As a business you will want to make a profit off of the people attending. Then people will complain that they paid $45to enter 3 times and won a 10 round race and someone hands them $115 because Gmp took $400 for their cut. Reggies shop was a business and he didn't make a dime and neither does Ron H or tom H . That's why people return . If they publisize this and it's huge every weekend and takes 3 hours to run a race with time runs nobody will return . My comments were more of a general nature. I agree a huge crowd for button racing is not ideal

Are you talking about when they had it in the room attached to the open pavilion inside the oval? If so I attended the majority of those races. I also remember staying to the end each time I was there and several of us cleaning up the place (all trash put in the trash can) before we walked out and locked the door. As far I as remember the place was never "wrecked" or "trashed". Now the floor might have been dirty from people coming in and out... it was the winter time and snow was on the ground. A lot of the same people posting in this thread also attended those. They know we didn't leave the place in wrecked or trashed state also. Just saying... Scott. I appreciate some of you that tried to keep it clean but it didn't get cleaned up every time. It wasn't a lot but there was some trash. Snow isn't sticky. Once again, not a lot but enough housekeeping had to clean it up. Believe me she told me all about it. Most of the people who attend events at GMP will not leave a mess. Once again it's a few that will ruin it for the rest. It's a great thing they are going to try it again. I'd hate to see it ruined by a couple of people. I'm just giving everybody a heads up because the management now is 100 times more picky than before. Thanks for the headsup. Previously you mentioned shoe prints on walls and cigarette butts. I think we all can agree that Shoe prints on the wall and anyone putting a cigarette out on the floor inside that room is just plain unthoughtful, disrespectful, and unacceptable. The cigarette butt thing is easy to fix... I'd think "no smoking" in the room will be and should be implemented (I'm saying this even though I am a smoker). If someone is found to be disrespecting the property then they should be banned from attending. I'd fully understand management putting the ax to it if things like mentioned are found. But, common sense is that trash and possible spills are gonna happen when big groups of people gather... So someone is gonna have to clean it up... Either a gmp employee, the person running the races, or the racers. I just don't understand a cleaning person complaining about doing their job unless they are having to do something the didn't expect to have to do. The only way to stop the cleaning person from complaining and maybe the management from ultimately being disgusted with it is to have the person running the races be responsible for making sure the place is clean before the door is locked. Take the trash to the dumpster, wipe the tables off, check and wipe walls, and mop the floors, etc. Basically leave it as if nothing happened there. Hopefully whoever is organizing this (gmp or individual) has a "plan" so if a cleaning person is used they know what to expect and there isn't disgruntled employees or management. I look forward to attending some of these races. Thanks gmp! Scott

She only mentioned it when she thought it was beyond "normal wear and tear". Yes there will be messes. I would think it's expected but I think most here would realize what is acceptable. A lot of different organizations use the facilities during the year. I would hate to see the bracket racers get the reputation of being the worst ones. I think that belongs to the MCRA (Midwest Cafe Racing Assoc) right now. lol I guess I shouldn't have said anything at all. My point is look at it like you are at a friends house not a frat party or dive bar.

I feel like this thread got a little side tracked (partially my fault).
So to get back on topic...
I think since Tom already has the bottom bulb thing established on friday's at his place maybe GMP's version should be on and top bulb only. Friday or Ssatuday evenings doesn't really matter to me but if done on Friday the crowds will probably much smaller because of what Tom has established already. Mabye even too small to justify having it??
But, if the bottom bulbers want it then I'm open to 50/50 top bulb and bottom bulb. If 50/50 then do 4 races an event and with 2 being top and 2 being bottom.
