When they see people show up in bonne terre and race index for no money it's like the sports car road course no money going out. The road course events are track rentals. I think GMP does the Friday track days which are just T&T's but they have a minimum car count. This weekend was Chump Car. I heard they only had about 20 entries. The road course events are almost all day time events. They don't pay to turn on the lights. The corner workers might be volunteer or paid by the event. The track rental covers all safety and ambulance. The don't used VHT that is $900 a barrel.

So what can we do as a group to make things more interesting at the end of the year for each class ? Start a side pot like Jason stated earlier for the champion? Or a side pot runoff at the last race of the year for the top 8 points people and two wild card entries or something ? Should we approach Gmp this winter that we would like to spice up are " Marriage " to the points deal ?

Maybe a side pot for each class. And push the track towards some new sponsors for the programs. That's up to the track if they are open or interested. I imagine every person who races there knows of perspective sponsors. We could put a list together of companies who may be intersted putting up some dollars or products. But that stuff has to happen now to get into place "BEFORE" the season to be worthwhile and draw in car count. There are trailer companies, transmission companies, engine builders, Paint shops and on and on...We know these companies and the owners and could be the foot in the door for the track if they were intested. For example, do you think Gateway ever called SX Fuels systems to sponsor programs at Gateway? No. SX called Gateway because they had a relationship with me sponsoring my car and wanted to reach more racers.
