I see some guys doing it in the sportsman class but havnt paid any attention to how consistant it is with factory fuel injection/computers. Is it any good. I hurt my motor Sunday and its leaning toward gonna need some work to he bottom end. Ive always wanted an Ls based motor. I used to have one in a street car and loved it. Thinking about running getting an LQ4 Iron block and putting higher compression pistons in it and running gas and the factory EFI with a tune. If my motor is hurt like I think it is> Time will tell. Just wondering if anybody has any experince with this kind of set up

All you have to do is look at Aaron Hagen and Paul Hagen. Those boys are deadly

My truck went 14.859, 14.879, 14.874, 14.891, 14.874, then for some reason everyone broke out 3rd round and I 14.78

I am running Factory Fuel injection on my Firebird in Pro. Biggest thing you have got to do is keep the starting line water temp close to the same every run.

When I was running EFI it was a little inconstant at times until I changed the tune to speed density, then it was dead on.

Petrie was doing really well in Pro ET with his Trans Am. If I remember right, with an LT1 and factory ECM. Obviously a heavily modified engine but OEM style EFI and computer. I think he runs mid 10's. Pretty impressive.
If I goofed that up maybe he can correct me on it.

I figured if it was to have any chance at all it would have to be speed density tuned. Other wise it would just be adjusting itself all the time. Never would be the same

Its a pain in the ass and very inconsistent, its great if you are looking for Maximum power every run. But otherwise a pain. I do run a Holley system (which is speed density) in my Stocker but thats a whole different ball game than my bracket car. I like my MAF setup in my black car. It follows the weather exactly as it should and is very consistent. The car will run 9's but with the small tire I run its 60' are not consistent in the heat when I have it hopped up. So I have it backed down a good bit by short shifting and taking some timing out at the hit. If you are serious about running a modifed car on factory fuel injection. Catch me at the track sometime and I will be glad to try and help you to get going in the right direction.
