7 Reasons You Don’t Want to Miss the JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout
The 4th annual JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout is less than two weeks away! Here are 7 great reasons to join us at I-57 Dragstrip on July 25-7 for the “Biggest Little Door Car Race in the Midwest!”
1.) Door Cars Only!
Door car drivers, this race is for you! This is your opportunity win $2,500 Friday, and $7500 on Saturday & Sunday without having to face a single dragster! Door car racers throughout the Midwest deserve a race like this, and we’re proud to present it once again. With no dragsters in the event, the quality of equipment is greatly equalized, meaning we’re going to find out what DOORCARS and DRIVERS are the best in the region!
2.) Great Guaranteed Purses!
The main event purse structure is completely unchanged from our past events. Two-day main event purses and the Friday Pregame purse are 100% guaranteed. Not only is the purse great at the top, but the payback is strong as well: 3rd round main event winners earn $100 each day ($65 on Friday)! Over $35,000 in cash purses are guaranteed throughout the weekend!
3.) Limited Expenses!
Weekend entry for the pair of $7500-to-win main events is still just $275. If you choose to come early for the Friday Pregame, that event has a separate $65 entry. The same car and driver combination cannot double enter, so you don’t need to purchase multiple entries in order to be competitive. Plus, the JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout offers first round-only buybacks for $75 in each main event, $35 in the Friday Pregame. This isn’t like a lot of big dollar races where you can ring up a $1,000 tab before you turn around. Worst case scenario, the main event will cost $425 (with entry and two days of buy backs), or $525 if you add the Friday Pregame.
4.) Unmatched Prizes & Awards!
The $35,000+ CASH purse simply isn’t enough for the best door car racers in the Midwest! In addition, the SDCS will award 26 Specialty Awards courtesy of event sponsors that combine for a total value of over $10,000. The SDCS has become known for a long list of “Door” Prizes, which are randomly awarded to racers who are defeated in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of competition (before payout begins). This season, we’ll hand out over 110 “Door” Prizes valued at over $10,000 combined! As if that weren’t enough, the SDCS will provide every competitor that buys back into competition with Buy Back Bonus prizes courtesy of ISC Racer’s Tape, K&N Engineering, and Lucas Oil Products. In total, those 300+ prizes add another $2500 in value! Factor in another $3,000 in contingency prizes to event winners, and nearly $1,500 in prizes for the top finishers in Sunday’s blind “Dial for Dollars” to benefit the JEGS Foundation for Cancer Research, and you’ve got a grand total of over 450 prizes for a combined value in excess of $27,000! Everyone gets something at the JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout! For complete prize details, visit www.I57sdcs.com.
5.) 100%+ Payback Bonus Races!
After Saturday’s Moser Main Event, the SDCS will host a pair of special bonus events. Both offer 100%+ payback – these races are simply a bonus for the best door car drivers in the region! The Meziere Quick 16 is reserved for the quickest door cars on the premises. The winner earns $1,000 and a $300 Meziere Enterprises gift certificate. Entry is just $50, and the entry fee is refunded to non-qualifiers.
The second specialty race Saturday night is just for the “hi-rollers.” Entry is $500 (cash only), and there is no limit on the number of entrants. This race pays back 100% of the entries, with no buy-backs, WINNER TAKE ALL! As if that weren’t enough, the King of Illinois event winner will also receive a complimentary pair of Ohlins LMP Series Shocks ($1500 value)! In 2012 Ohlins King of Illinois boasted 29 entrants and saw Jesse Bobo crowned “King” as he was awarded a smooth $14,500 CASH! Last season, weather issues limited the field to 19 entries, and when the dust cleared we saw Wayne Franks wearing the crown and holding $9500 CASH!
6.) FOOD!
If you leave the 4th annual JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout hungry, that’s your fault! We’ll begin feeding racers and crews on Saturday morning with the Nitroplate courtesy breakfast. The Nitroplate courtesy cart will roll through the pits each morning, stocked with donuts, orange juice, coffee and more. Breakfast is free to SDCS competitors and crews, courtesy of Nitroplate and the I-57 Dragstrip staff!
Back for 2014 is the Saturday night Holley Racer Appreciation BBQ, prepared by track owner Scott Bailey himself! Prior to taking over I-57 Dragstrip, Scott and his wife Leigh Anne were in the concession business, and specialized in BBQ (they can COOK). The BBQ is free to weekend entrants and crew, courtesy of Holley Performance. Make plans to join us for the Holley Racer’s Appreciation BBQ Saturday night; you’ll be glad you did!
Got a sweet tooth? So did good friend of the SDCS Butch Daugherty, who we lost a couple of months ago to a heart attack. In Butch’s memory, RacingRV’s is presenting the Butch Daugherty Memorial Ice Cream Social throughout the weekend. Each entrant will receive two vouchers for free Ice Cream throughout the weekend; so soak up the frozen dairy, enjoy the camaraderie, and remember Butch at this year’s SDCS.
If that isn’t enough, you can also frequent the best concession stand in the Midwest at I-57 Dragstrip!
7.) FUN!
Between the I-57 Dragstrip staff, SDCS helpers, great sponsors, and awesome racers we have always taken pride in a fun atmosphere at the SDCS. “Big Jed,” Jared Pennington will be on the mic for a 4th consecutive season. We’ll continue to hand out our fun awards, like the JEGS Wheelie Wagon (best wheelstand) and Mickey Thompson Tires best burnout award. And we’ll do our very best to insure that you have a great time at the “Biggest Little Door Car Race in the Midwest.”
