NHRA rules say: Single stage “high side only” rev-limiters permitted. Rev-limiters or any other rpm limiting devices, legal unto themselves but altered or installed so as to function as a down-track rpm controller is prohibited. Does "installed as a down track rpm controller" mean no intentional use of running up against the rev limiter as a way to reduce top end speed? I'm new to bracket racing and have a funny story to go along with this question. So I'm running sportsman class and have been working on trying to run consistent 12.0x. I get to the track on Saturday morning and I'm checking this and that, and I notice my rev limiter is mistakenly set to 6100rpm's ( and it's been that way for a long time) daaa? I change the rev limiter to 6600 and made my first run down the track...... 11.66 and left off the gas early..... and funny thing, the car felt alot smoother on the top end. It was fun, fun, fun But I had an impossible time slowing the car to 12. Can I use the rev limiter in this way to keep the care slowed downn or do I need to run in the pro class in the next bracket race?

No you can't. That's a top end rev limiter or down track controller

My brother made a stop under my dad's throttle pedal. It's a simple bolt that you screw in or out to pick up or slow the car. He used it to run the 11.00 class a couple years ago. The car usually ran 10.60.

thanks for the info.... But I think I'm gonna step up and race with the big boys in Pro. I think I'll feel better when I get beat.
