As some of you may have heard the Street Car Guys have a shootout scheduled at Central Illinois Dragway on Friday July 19th during the weekly Test and Tune.
I was hoping to use the thread to help us get the word out on this event.
We are planing to do something different at this "one particular" event to increase the car counts. For this one event we are planing to allow any door car into our fast class assuming one thing. It has two doors that open and close. Thats it! Full Tube Chassis, Slicks, 4-link rear ends, Lexan Windows, anything goes in this heads up competition! It costs $40 to enter and the winner of the event takes home 80%of the pot! Runner up gets 20%.
We also have an 8.0 index class welcome to street cars. The car must be completely street legal, have a valid license/registration and proof of Insurance. This is a foot brake only class and its a $20 fee to enter this class.
The sign up for the event will be on a clip board at the adult beverage trailer where you will also pay your fee. Please come join us!
Best Regards, Joseph Lay

Our group continues to debate the rules for the fast class. We have an additional rule that may make it difficult for some bracket cars. We are requesting that to participate in the fast class your must have mufflers on your ride. Sorry if this steers anyone away.
Additional Info: You will be required to pay the TnT fee when you arrive to the track and then an their is an additional fee (paid at the beverage trailer) to enter the event.
Both classes have best 2 out 3 hot lap finals.

What do you plan on doing about delay boxes and delay buttons?

Both classes are on a pro tree so I believe they will be allowed. I will double check for you.

that should level the playing field some, but people who are used to reacting on the top light should have a slight advantage.

Most cars will not react fast enough on pro tree.

Based on what feedback I have gotten it sounds like delay boxes are ok for the fast class. It will be a 400 pro tree... Obviously since the 8.0 index is a "foot" brake class no delay boxes will be allowed. The 8.0 index is for true street beaters...
Additionally, it sounds like some of the guys are softening on the 2 out of 3 hot lap final requirement in the fast class. We dont want to see anyone overheat a trans and burn it up in the spirit of having some fun! Hope some of you guys can join us.

How is the track prep for these events? We are coming for TNT but have never been there on a Friday. Is it similar to regular race days?

My experience it is very good. Although, I only have a 8 second car with regular street tires. I have seen cars on street tires run in the 5's consistantly.. I hope you can attend!
All, The 2 out of 3 hot lap final in the fast class has been eliminated. Its a one and done final round. We have settled on two rules for the fast class. It must be a door car and has mufflers. That's it!
