During the third round of eliminations Saturday the 8th there was some confusion on the line about the correct dial-ins on the boards. After that was resolved, when staging I let my car slide in and lit both pre-stage and stage lights. I know double bulbing is not kosher and I didn't mean to do it. I want to apologize to whoever runs car #328J for the double bulb. I assure you it wasn't done on purpose. I don't want to make anyone mad at me or have anyone think of me as a dirty player. I try hard to compete and fit in as a good honest competitor. I'm racing to have fun and I had a ball Saturday at CID.
Saturday was my first day of competing with my car. There was a lot of nerves and emotions, adrenaline was very high. After that run my battery went dead on the return road. By the time I could get towed back to the pit and charge the battery a bit, I just couldn't make the call for the fourth round. BTW, the PA is very hard to hear in some parts of the pits.
I know I've got a lot to learn, so if you guys see me doing something wrong, don't hesitate to call me on it.
Sincerely, Phil Murray Car# 3606

I don't want to throw anyone off their routine, I just want to race fair. I am definitely in the process of rethinking my charging system. With the bracket I have, Moroso, I am stuck with a 93MM alt. that won't start charging till the engine RPMs are above 2500.

I used to never run a alternator, just 2 batterys and charge between rounds, but after you start and stop a bunch of times, and if you have a water pump, fan, fan inside the car, fuel pump, eletric shift, lights for night, plus your msd box, thats a lot, some racers think a alternator robs power, but you need all you can get and the most important is the msd box,i don't care if I loose hp,i just want to run the number each round

john the alternator puts some draw on the motor, but it puts the same amount every run. I run dual truck batteries, but will probably have to figure out how to mount an alternator, since i now have about the same electrical pieces you have.

That was a cluster f wasn't it? Anyways 328J is a very good friend of mine, I'll tell him what you said. He wasn't pissed about the double bulb, that happens some times, but was because they couldn't get the dial in correct in three tries. Your car runs pretty good Phil, glad to see you make it up there. I'll call John in a few. Hope you liked CID enough to make the trip more. I run an alternator on our car, but still have to charge between rounds some, after dark when we have to run lights. Running 1/8 mile just don't charge enough.

Some guys don't like that, and consequences might be bad.

I'll definitely be back. I live close enough that it's just an hour drive. But I got to get a different Alt/charging system on my car. Thanks for the kind words 92GA. Tell your friend I'm new at this and I'll try to find him next time I'm there.

Either one of us would let you charge your battery if it needed it. We all have our moments, that's why I quite driving a couple years ago. I still wrench on my sons car though, black firebird in S/pro. We usually park over on the grassy side. I talked with John tonight, he said he didn't even give it a second thought. See ya a the track.

if you were quick staged, or double bulbed, which ever you want to call it, if the starter was doing their job correctly, they should have backed the other car out and made him wait until you were ready. THAT IS STATED IN THE RULES.

Yes, that was me. I still use the barrel, gave one to another friend that runs E85. That was very generous of you. I am sorry, but I have forgotten your name. Old age I guess. If I remember correctly, at the time, you were just getting on your feet again from some illness. Doing well I hope. No need to discuss that on an open forum though.
BTW, I live in Beardstown.

You running E-85? We're running it but we're a lot slower than you. We're only running 6.60s trapping 5800 rpm. That isn't near enough for this sbc. When I had this motor in my Grand Am it ran 6.20s. We're geared for the quarter now because I didn't know if CID was going to be open or not. Not going to change it now. Noticed a bit of tranny fluid under the car last night, but we didn't have any leakage at the track or on the trailer, and we left it on the trailer over night last week. Hope to get to go this week again. Maybe see ya there. I don't remember if I was getting over the pneumonia or the heart attack, anyways much better now. I'm never going back to driving again, I have almost as much fun being there with my son.
