All pros . I've run a glide since 1980 I think. I had a turbo in my car when I bought it. Every 1 1/2 years it would break. My car weighs 3030 and runs 9,00 with a turbo 5.70 in 1/8 glide runs the same 1/4 & 5.80 in 1/8. Only downer no more huge wheel stands. I guess I could change the rear gears

Pro's less breakage, most likely more consistent, more readily avaliable parts Con cost money to switch

Pros; less weight and less moving parts inside it, much more consistent and like Jeremy said the aftermarket is full of parts. Cons; would be the cost, need to buy an Ultra Bell to bolt to your Mopar.

i understand about the ultra bell,i know it takes less hp for the glide, the cost is not the thing here, just something that will last through out the year,i heard 727s are harder on the lauch and harder on drivetrain partsmy car dont wheel stand, maybee 8-12 inches off the ground on trans brake,1.30s 60 fts, best et to date is 9.72 and 6.11 1/8 mile which happen a few weeks ago, looking to go with a 500ci motor next year, car weighs 3010 with driver,456 gears

I use stock 1.76 gears (planetaries) in my Roadster and the clutches that are in that trans have been in the trans since 1994. I have replaced the pump once since 94 and went to an aftermarket case back in 2002. The Dragster has a set of 1.80 straight cuts in it plus a Reid case and a 10 clutch high gear clutch drum, also run an M-300 input shaft. The Dragster makes almost 900 HP and the Roadster makes right at 700 HP. I took the trans out of the Roadster in 2010 to send the case out to be re certified and I haven't taken the trans out of the Dragster since the start of the 2011 season.

you will find you are in high gear longer which should yield higher finish line mph while maintaining the same et.
the 60 ft may be a touch slower but ultimately should be more consistant.
there is only one shift to mess up.
there are no parts turning backwards in the glide while moving forward.
there is no rear roller clutch to fail and explode the trans like a 727.
they weigh less.
nice aftermarket parts are more readily available and cost less.
2 speed shifters are easier to buy and make automatic.
we can build you a nice custom unit. or supply you with the parts needed to build your own if you prefer.

does any one know of a kit,i thought i see one,has bellhousing, flywheel, what about starter and should i use a midplate I would think your car ,doesn't need ,nor require a mid-plate. as for bell housing, an ULTRA BELL might be what you would look for? ?? The starter would be a Chevy style high tqu power master makes a great one just for racing and the price is better than most. But Idono,, I don't run that chebby stuff on my MOPAR

a lot of your fast mopars dont run 727s dennis By the time you buy all that good stuff to make the glide hold up , no savings except in few pounds of weight! I do not understand why you are having issues with your 727,, if it is because the parts or fituged that is being used then I can , but if the person as much knowledge on the 727, some claim this , but few do! they should run a long time in a mid to low 9 sec car without to much trouble! Rich Sawyer's old duster,, that weighted in at touch over 3100# ran the same trans for over 10 years with out even so much as a freshen job done,, it ran 9.80 on the rear bumper with a trans break!! it was a stock rebuilt tranny!! no fancy parts ! The last tranny trouble I ever had was in my old Road Runner, I hurt it in the water box, won the race, left the track drove straight home without stopping, I made it home, the next day it would not move at of it's tracks,, that's been long time ago. All the race cars I have had I've never lost tranny ! never broke rear tail shaft housing,!!, Tom's car,, The car I ran the last 4 years did lose a trans, but it was in his car when he bought it , and had alot of street racing on it!! He (Tom ) has had more issues of engine , due to builder mistakes and poor oversight!

heres a funny story had a 73 winnebago w/a 727 trans, was overheating so i did a complete tune up and fluid changes.went to do the trans filter & fluid and the fluid looked like black tooth paste stuck to valve body, seeing this i was sure she would never move again.1 case of brake clean, cleaned valve body, installed filter and pan.2 5gallon buckets full new fluid/1 empty, unhooked trans cooler lines and started up and pumped new fluid in till looked like new coming out.drove winny w/ trailer for 4 more years.whodathunk
