The final Street Car Shootout will be Saturday, September 29th. The 2 Classes have been set from all the input we have received from the racers that took the online Survey. They will be 7.49 and Faster & 7.50 and Slower. Hope to see everyone there and to see a big car count! I will be posting the Rules soon. You can download this document at the following link docs.google.com/open?id=0B1Hq6V6tp3YhR0ZLQmlqUnhGQmsYou can also join this Event on Facebook at the following link www.facebook.com/events/116369645179900/NOTICE GATE TIME CHANGE BELOW

Hello Smush,
Thank you for taking your time to create the survey and flyer in effort to try and help this event grow! Also a big thanks to BC who has spent the last few years trying to get this event off the ground spending much of his time fielding comments both negative and positive.
Before I start I hope my comments are not viewed as negative but constructive. Getting to the point... I was hoping the ET for the slower class would have been a bit slower opening the class up to more people resulting in higher car counts and a better overall show. I filled out the survey online and was at the last street car event for the TnT portion and decided my car wasn't near fast enough to get in the slow class so I said why bother. Truth is if you look at Central Street Scene's home page and see the results from the last street car shoot out held at Cordova Dragway in August you will find that of the nearly 20 cars listed with their 1/4 mile times, 85% of these cars were too slow for the so called slow class at CID. With the recent rule change to a 7.50 cut off you may have one more eligible car leaving the other 80% out..... I think we still need some more work here.
I did some calculations using all these times posted on CSS's website and found if you translate the reported 1/4 mile times to 1/8 mile times you get an avg. ET of 7.9 seconds using all 19 cars. If you take out the top three cars which are rockets and would certainly enter the fast class if they came to CID, the avg 1/8 mile ET is now 8.2 seconds. Going one step further if you remove the top 3 cars (rockets), and bottom 3 cars (my car), leaving just true 11 and 12 second 1/4 mile street cars you get a 7.976 second 1/8 mile ET as an average.
So my question is why dont we use a 8.0 second ET for the class? The "objective" data in the above paragraph shows this is where most of the street cars reside E/T wise in the Central Illinois area. I would think if people seen this message and see that you are trying to make the event fit the majority of the cars you would have a better turn out.
By the way the fastest 1/8 mile ET I have ever had in my car was a 8.85.... Still leaves me out but I might run just for the hek of it if it was 8.0. I know a few other guys that may show up as well if it was 8.0.
Again, thank you for all of your time and hard work, and hope this message is found to be helpful.

I have jotted this down and I agree we probably need to work on this some more. We will see what we do for car count this time and probably go from there. I normally drive a vehicle that is runnin 10.62 on the 1/8 mile and for the last shootout was borrowing a car that only ran an 8.26 but I figured I would give it a shot. I think that the 7.50 is closer but agree that 8.0 might be the way to go. We will have to see what the car count does this time and then try to make some more changes before next year. Thanks again for your interest and I hope to see you there. (hey you never know....maybe we will all be slow)

Whats the payout? I am assuming each class has a guarantee since they both have a separate sponsor. Thanks MM

Thanks for the payout info.... Not. You have class sponsors for both classes and you have no payout structure??
And you wonder why this thing draws only 20 cars. Class racing works all over the place, but you have to have a decent payout to draw the cars. Nobody will show up to win $50 and a free oil change. Mike

Also the payout is 80/20 for each class. Winner in both classes gets 80% of the entry fees paid in for their class. Runner Up in both classes gets 20% of the entry fees paid in for their class.
