Ok....So I have to bring this up and see what everyone else thinks about this. I entered and ran the Street Car Shootout 7.30 and slower class and got beat 2 out of 3 in the hot laps by a truck running 7.10 and 7.22. I understand that low car count can be a problem but 7.30 and slower is “7.30” and slower. If there are no breakout penalties then what’s keeping my buddies that run 6.40’s from bolting on a set of street tires and running the 7.30 class. All of my runs are posted below. I am car number 96 (a 1970 Nova). There were only 3 vehicles in the slow class and their numbers were 96, 410, and 75. I will let you all decide who should have been declared winner.
------------------------------------------------------------ Qualifying Left Lane Right Lane 410 ‘CAR’ 96 +.2160 ‘REACTION’ +.5372 1.5921 ‘60 ft’ 1.9217 4.5140 ‘330 ft’ 5.6189 6.9789 ‘1/8 ET’ 8.7728 99.59 ‘1/8 MPH’ 78.12 ------------------------------------------------------------ ELIM 1 – I had the Bye Run Left Lane Right Lane ‘CAR’ 96 ‘REACTION’ +.5660 ’60 ft’ 1.9388 ‘330 ft’ 5.6241 ‘1/8 ET’ 8.7648 ‘1/8 MPH’ 78.56 ------------------------------------------------------------ ELIM 2 – Final – Hot Lap 1 of 3 Left Lane Right Lane 96 ‘CAR’ 75 +.3089 ‘REACTION’ +.2261 1.9641 ’60 ft’ 1.6378 5.5732 ‘330 ft’ 4.6158 8.5601 ‘1/8 ET’ 7.2259 82.40 ‘1/8 MPH’ 88.03 Right Lane Winner ------------------------------------------------------------ ELIM 3 – Final – Hot Lap 2 of 3 Left Lane Right Lane 96 ‘CAR’ 75 +.3019 ‘REACTION’ +.5528 1.8862 ’60 ft’ 1.5979 5.4549 ‘330 ft’ 4.5641 8.4210 ‘1/8 ET’ 7.1004 82.86 ‘1/8 MPH’ 96.49 Right Lane Winner ------------------------------------------------------------ I hope that all of my concerns that I expressed at the track to the gentleman running the Shootout will be taken into consideration. If you enter in 7.30 and slower and you run a 7.2999 or quicker you broke out period. That’s what racing is about and I’m not saying that if you can’t qualify for the slower class then you should be out altogether, you should have the option to pay the difference and buy into the faster class during qualifying. Otherwise what is the point of having the slower class? Instead I got to make 4 runs at $5.00 a piece on a Pro tree and that was it. I’m not sure if I’m willing to chance hauling a car over for this again if this is what is going to happen again.

The classes were 7.00 and 7.70. You sure you weren't in the 7.00 class?

The classes were 7.00 and 7.70. You sure you weren't in the 7.00 class? this had nothing to do with those index classes this was the central street scene shootout they had a heads up class and a 730 and slower class

Was it a bracket race with a dial in, if so then post what your dial in was and I bet you will find the answer to why you lost considering you ran from a 8.77 to a 8.42.If you broke out more you lose.

Here are the rules from that night.....everything was heads up. Street Car Shootout 2012 RULES 1) Racers MUST present valid Driver's License 2) Racers MUST present current Registration for race vehicle 3) Racers MUST present current Insurance card for race vehicle 4) Racer's vehicle MUST run DOT approved street tires (Drag radials & Street Slicks such as ET Street and Quicktime Pro's are permitted) 5) Racer's vehicle MUST have mufflers (exhaust cut outs permitted)(turbo charger dumps allowed) 6) Racer's vehicle MUST have working lights 7) Racer's vehicle MUST have proper safety equipment and pass CID tech inspection --Event will be run on a .400 Pro Tree --All participants will get 2 practice runs on pro tree before elimination --Best 2 out of 3 Hot Lap Final --Compitition Ladder picked at radom via track computer. --Street Car Shootout entry fees: 7.30 and slower class $20.00 7.29 and faster class $40.00 (These fees are in addition to the track's $25.00 T&T entry fee) --Payout: 80/20 split of pot for each division I'm not even worried about it at this time. I have been talking with the person coordinating this on another forum (http://www.centralstreetscene.org/forum/showthread.php?t=65330) and they are going to modify the rules to include no breakouts in the slower class.
