So what gives?
We guarantee our payouts and pay the same day. Switched to VHT without any complaints from Street Cars to Twin Turbo 4.20 Pro Mods. Mist the starting line to 60ft before eliminations and mist starting line when needed throughout the day. Drag the track 12 hrs a week, plus 1 hr before track prep and 20 min after track prep on race day. Start on time 99% of the time.
But we've had marginal car counts at best. Why does a racer continue to go somewhere they're opinions don't matter, race on a marginal track at best without even getting paid the same day.
I just don't get it whether its Gateway or CID. A lot of racers have complaints, but are still showing up. When I lived in St Louis I drove past Gateway to I-57 or CCD to race at a track I was treated like a rock star and had good traction. Unless you had at least a Pro Mod Gateway treated everyone like chit. Top notch facility, but most racers got treated like a number and not a person. I hit CID a few times even when Jacklyn had it and still have two bounced checks and almost crashed my roadster (at mid track) and never went back.
I just don't get it.

Besides the 330' race later this month I will be there at least 1 or 2x's a month for some bracket racing starting in June.

Your over 3 hour drive for me. Shut down too short. When I was there it was the worst traction I have ever seen. It may have improved but I'm not risking 6 plus hours on the road when fuel is so hi.

We appreciate it Steve and you've supported us since our take over, but I just don't get why someone goes somewhere to only spin the tires resulting in inconsistent 60's and ET's, get at best lip service and hope they might get paid 75% of their entry back for semi's. Don't be surprised if what little hair I have is gone by time we see you at our next Q8 in two weeks. Stay safe and see ya soon.

Bracketracing first I've heard bout our shutdown area being too short. How fast are you?
We've had door cars going 4.40's, a Twin Turbo Pro Mod 4.20's and of course dragsters going 4.00's without issues. Traction at CCD has been good for as long as I've been running there (2003). We use VHT now and knock on wood have some very happy racers when it comes to traction. Its not much, but did you know about our long haul program for those traveling more than 90 miles (the distance from my house in Belleville, IL) getting bonus money to win or R/Up and a free buy back for those more than 140 miles (Troy, MO).

I'm not that fast 5.80 in a 3000 lbs car. I've talked to several people that say the shut down is too short. Less than midstate or Sikeston. I saw dragsters going in the fours, who wants to pack a chute on every pass. I'm not picking on your track you asked why some did not come, my car was a tenth slow due to traction, all increments. This was 3 years ago, maybe 4. Very hot but we had fun great people just not something I care to drive that far on a regular basis.

Bracket Racing. Got it and thanks for the feedback....
Good or bad I now have a little more knowledge then before that I can maybe address letting racer know our shut down area is longer than some may have thought.
Our shutdown is 200 ft longer than Sikeston. Believe me I know as I pulled my chute at Sikeston every pass (5.00 Roadster) and never do at CCD. I swear that house on the top end at Sikeston moves closer each year.
We are a little shorter than CID since they added to their top end last year.

Sorry to hear the car count is still short Rod. I will attest to how hard you and your staff work for your race track. Last year when I decided not to go back to CID anymore, myself and several others came over and where greeted with open arms. If anyone has not been there since Rod has taken over, they are great people. I will be over several times this summer but unfortunately I doubt if it is more than once a month. Good luck.

Brandon, Thanks for the kind words. Darwin and I have done many things trying to make CCD a place more racers want to call home. We know in the long run it'll work and be worth all our efforts. I'm sure we'll see you in a few weeks when we run our 1st JT Muffler Q8. You seem to do really well on those days usually doubling up with a win in S/P too. Thanks and see ya soon.

Just for some comparisons I checked the lengths of shutdowns on google earth. Coles County 1171 feet CID before 1071 feet now 1248 feet i-57 1149 feet Sikeston 1216 ft but down hill
I'm sure these aren't exactally accurate but I would think they are close.

At Sikeston, it must be that house at the end that makes it seem so short. I guess in my mind I don't want to end up in his living room watching Jerry Springer so I pull the chute.

Sikeston is downhill which in my opinoin makes a big difference. I know I have a much harder time getting stopped their than others with similar distance shutdowns.
