fo the first time ever, i got to go to tri-city in granite city, now i have worked in the area for well over 4 years never been there, , my last visit to ant to ant rounde round, was at the old godrey speedway, wich, i was never impressed, this was good for me to get out and it was free as NAPA AUTO PARTS GAVE OUT THE PASSED AND FREE FOOD AND DRINKS!! AND A COOLING SHELTER got to watch alot of diffrent racing even kenny shrader flew in on his hellicopter, and race, needless to say he was the car to be beat!! but what really intresting, is the fans, yeah it was hot, but the stands where full both sides, kids families, the announcing was great, they camre out gave away some bicicyles to the kids, talked to spectators, it was great to see a ttrack get the community invovled . oo yeah wounders where alot of drag racer are and what they are doing, i didnt have to look far!! i had a great time, for the most it was an organized demo derby started with 18 car mains , end with maybe 8- 10 cars,

Highland puts on a good show also. I haven't been to Tri City. Did you ever go to White City back in the 80's?

havent been to highland either, this was my 2 nd time ever at a rounde round race, ever!! YES to white city, more with the tts for the motocycles on the circle track , but never got the bug for going in circles! ahhalol drag racing need to take note of how to put on shows like circle does, getting fans involved , thats what was great, people sitting on old wood bleechers, hot dirty, dirt being thrown at ya , but they stayed almost all the spectators, when they won ther mains, they would put the winners up on a plateform talk to them get pictures , it was great to see it so involved

ive been to tri city lots of times, allways had a good time, dont go there as much as i use to,belliville is another, plus pevley, went to st.charles when it was there, they do pack the stands and keep the fans coming back, and for the most part there grass root racers, but those places have very little overhead, paid off years ago,,but its how its ran and keep racers and fans coming back, plus its the only racing in the area,my hats goes off to them

well its sponsor is lucas oil, so im sure they paid heavily for the air time but youre correct, you will never see that typ of commitment out of any local track the night i was there kenny shrader flew in his helo, and you know who was going to win that night, and he did exept the feature, he had flat and had to quit, but he was half tracked everyone there , but anyhow, lucas oil co, sponsors alot of racing avenues, along with indy, but , even as big as they are, i believe a change is comming there too, as they are now in talks wqith irp to renegoteate that contract, and its not even been a year yet by the way, did you go to cid ??
