For those that dont know what my 1981 Honda cb900c is, I'll tell ya. This bike was Honda's big power cruiser in the early 80's (only made in 80, 81, 82) its a 900cc air cooled, twin cam 16 valve, 4 cylinder, with a 5 speed transmission and a high/low range auxilary trans, giving you 10 forward gears, and it use's a shaft final drive stolen off Honda's Goldwing. The ratios in the trans and auxilary arent right to split each gear, so its best to use low range and the 5 speed, and then use the high range as a 6th gear.
The riding position is a sit up straight style with fairly high handlebars and a big cushy seat. I put highway pegs on mine, so I can stretch my legs out front whenever I want, and I put a small windshield on it. I've rode some 200 miles days in total comfort. (I ride my hotrod sportbike to work 30 miles and I'm hurting)
I put 2 new tires on my cb900 last friday. I put Bridgestone Spitfire's front and rear. This tire has a duel rubber compound, a harder high mileage compound in the center of the tread, and a bit softer compound on the rest of the tire for better cornering traction.
I put 100 or so scrub in miles on them friday and saturday, and decided push them a little harder today and see how they act
Coming home from Hermann today I rode fast! not crazy fast, but fast enough to drag hard parts on the ground. Left hand turns will scratch the footpegs lightly, but they fold up so it doesnt upset the bike. Right hand turns will bang the 4 into 1 header down on the pavement pretty hard and it trys to stand the bike back up and throws sparks out the back. ;D
