Erik Buell is set to debut his latest creation, a limited-production street bike expected to be available this spring. Buell is working with S&S Cycles to develop the new bikes. He says he plans to attend Dealer Expo to talk up his new venture and start building a dealer network. "The first round of bikes are going to be collectibles, exotic, special-edition," he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. No one expected Buell to sit still after Harley-Davidson shuttered his eponymous company in 2009. H-D granted Buell a license to continue building racing motorcycles but not street bikes after the Buell brand was shut down. Buell says Harley has since released him from that agreement. "Harley-Davidson is coming back, which is great news. And I hope that we can come back in our own, much smaller way," he told the newspaper. The first EBR 1190RS bikes will be sold directly from Buell's race shop in East Troy, Wisc. Buell hasn’t set a price yet but says they’ll be expensive until he can grow the company and its market share. "There are a lot of sport bikes sold in the world, and we would like some of them to be American. We would not need a very large percentage of the marketplace to be pretty big again," Buell says.
