Broke out the VTX1800 today. Figured I'd put a few miles on it before winter hits. I rode out to the wife's work to give her a ride to lunch. She said "No". I thought uh oh. When we got home she was being a butt. So I ate a tv dinner and jumped back on the bike.
Route 66 follows several roads though this area. It went different ways over the years. Here pretty much my starting point. This is across the street from me.
I took 66 north toward Mt Olive. It didn't take me long to remember how much I like to ride. I went past Soulsby's station www.gassigns.org/soulsby.htm and the Mother Jones Monument www.roadtripamerica.com/places/mtolive.htm
I went past Mullins race engines and merged back onto another section toward Litchfield. It used to be 4 lane years ago. It's now 2 lane.
I past this cafe. I wished I had my camera. It would make a cool pic of my bike in front of it.
I stopped at www.niehauscycle.com/ checked out the new bikes and what's on sale. Always have to nose around in the back room of the used building when you are there. You never know what you will find. They have new VTX1300's for $6999.
I went a couple of blocks to the drive-in and turned around.
I left Litchfield and went west on 16 to Gillespie. Going into town there is 2 ponds that were pay lakes when I was a kid. My dad took me fishing there a few times. That was before w333 was born. ahhh the good times. Today the place was inundated with geese. Probably over 100 of them.
I caught another section of 66, now Rt 4 and went south back to Staunton. I filled her up with gas and put her back in the shop.
I covered about 40 miles. Along the way I saw a big fat ground hog and 2 dead skunks. One skunk stunk, one skunk didn't stunk. ;D
