Maybe it is maybe it's not ! Unless they say so up front it's part of the winning the championship it's a gift Silly to argue over dumb grap I could care less You got a gift. I always expect the worse and anything else is a bonus when it comes to end of the year racing payouts.

A gold card is the minimum Gateway can do for the track champion , it costs the track nothing and the track champions still bring in money for the track because they still have to pay for the family/crew they bring with them to the races plus luring back past champions help to build a better team for division finals .

In the 20 years I have been racing points at GMP the only year I can recall that a Gold Card was not given to class winners was 2010 because the track closed in November 2010. Due to that history I think wether or not it's in print it is a constant/given and is expected.
Whatever prizes received after winning a championship are "earned" in my opinion. A gift would be GMP giving dennismopar a goldcard because he definitely didn't earn it by racing and winning at gmp this year.
Jason, you miss this type of arguing over this stuff?
Not much more annoying than a person downplaying a championship and the prizes that come with it... have personally had it happen and see it happen all the time in the internet world. Usually those doing the downplaying are the ones who haven't won a championship and/or those who feel "entitled" to one. Winning a championship is NOT easy and is a honorable accomplishment no matter what angle people downplay it at.
As far as the original topic goes... GMP is the closest track to us. It's a pretty decent place to race. We like to stay close to home. So we will be there most bracket racing races.... just depends on the mood, family, and what the kids have going on.

I do miss the devils advocate . Lol . It takes all kinds to make this thing fun. We all know Jeremy's credentials even Dennis mopar knows it. This is just one more notch on his belt and bucket list. And like I told him earlier this year after he voluntarily spotted the field a race and went on vacation the race after he took the points lead . If it's your year you can do no wrong just like Jeff Norton did in 1999 going on his honey moon in Hawaii on the final points night. The 2015 sp championship couldn't have had anymore drama imo . Closest point chase ever coming down to the last race and to beat his friend Cory by 1 point and doing so with a hurt car and being the first premier sp champ with doors since 1999! He deserves everything he gets.

It was an exciting finish in s/pro for sure. I recall 2009 was pretty close also. Maybe 5 points?

Scott That's the year Meg won a JR/D class championship. Linda and others went out of their way to provide some recognition at the SLARFC banquet of champions that was much appreciated. She even got a "Gold Card" but it was only for show and tell. Since Dover Downs buried the place. Thanks again to our new ownership for making the place fun to race again. And please don't ever consider a tool like Lenny B. to run the place OK? Thank you.

Scott I would never down play the run at a championship nor the work it took to get there As I stated He earned the rights to be the champion by going more rounds and winning rounds than anyone else in his or her class That being said To state he earned a gold card is a misstatement Nowhere was it stated he would win it Thus it wasn't I the table to be earned How ever it was given to those who won their respective classes Matter of how you interpret what's earn and what's given

It is semantics but quite clear to most if you read the definitions. Earn 2. To acquire as a result of effort or action: Gift something bestowed or acquired without any particular effort by the recipient
The reason I get what ever prizes they now decide is bc I acquired more points through action. Therefore it is earned. Even if they decide to now give me an elephant as a prize it was still earned as it was awarded to me bc of my action. Now if the decide to give a prize to a random human then that would be a gift as they did nothing to earn it.
Silly argument anyways but I think we're all bored so we got to do something.

I'm still confused. So if you're a relentless smart ass and someone punches you in the mouth. Was it a gift or did you earn it? Lol. Just curious.

It was absolutely 'earned'. Hence... "He had it coming!" Sure hope this kind of rhetoric keeps going as it may make the Winter fly by.
