Saw Ronnie at the PRI show on Friday. He STILL says that plans are moving forward and he now has another investor that is a racer that as he says everyone knows. I asked him several times and he refused to shed any light as to who it was, I threw some names out there and he would just smile at me. Says that the "NEW" guy has talked him into downsizing from his original plans but they still intend on doing a 1/4 mile facility. He told us that he has re-filed all of the paperwork with I guess the County and the SBA and that they had a bank lined up to do the financing. If nothing else you have to give the guy props for perseverance, he just keeps plugging along trying to pull this deal out of thin air.

Been hoping for something to happen for years. Gave my two MAR Park shirts to the Salvation Army (no bull). Do still have the 2004 NHRA Division 5 Finals shirt from MAR. That's a keeper.

You would have to be an idiot to try and build that thing now. With the second coming of Benton and Bon terre . Gateway improving, the area is already saturated.

Good point, but most of the guys that will run this Nostalgia deal would swarm to a place like MAR because they would run all of that Old School stuff. I think the reason you don't see a lot of the cars that used to run MAR back in the day at Gateway is because they were so lenient in enforcing the rules there. I worked tech in 1991 out there and was told just sign their card, they paid their money, and it was all simple rule infractions, only one throttle return spring or none at all, bungee cords holding the battery in, no driveshaft loop for cars with slicks and the best one was NO SEATBELTS AT ALL!! These are the guys that will go out there and race because that's what they want..
