Good turnout today and support from the public. There is another opportunity this coming Saturday. Unless, of course, contract gets ratified before then.
The issue here is pension. Laura Buick wants to leave the existing pension plan and the mechanics wish to keep it.

No progress at this time. I, and others, will be there again this Saturday to show support. If you are enjoying a nice union paycheck and benefits, especially a pension, please think of these folks while they freeze their asses off during the holidays to fight to keep the pension they have had for years that they do not want to leave. These battles affect all of us and should not be ignored.
There has been wide support from all trades. This is a big deal. Please come out and support. Thank you. Merry Christmas!

I may be wrong but they did not get to save the pension. We had the same here at my shop. The pension is going broke again for the3-4th time. Our dealer liability was 800,000 10-12 months ago and now its 1.8 million. My dealer got out of the pension also and are contributing to a 401k

The market is at an all time high, so how can that be? What sort of crappy investments is the pension administration into?

That's not exactly true. The issue is that the number of retirees grows and they live longer. While the number of contributors is dropping. This causes an imbalance. The funds make money.
Every time another group elects to drop out they only add to the problem.
The answer is to keep up the fight.
I feel the current generation has enjoyed the benefits of what has been fought for in the past for a long time and is complacent.
It is very important that the younger generation listen to the senior members advice.

This is not a new problem been happening for 25-30 years. Also the medical insurance side is still funded well. While I agree the more dealers get out the more trouble it will be in.

I figured there were more retirees drawing from the pension than new hires contributing. Or, something along those lines.
