To add alittle more fun and hype to a Saturday night bracket race I proposed we have a high profile race late in the event for cool down like around maybe before the semifinals or something. Fans/ crew/ racers / can call someone out for a big money cash purse that is provided by the racers. $500 or $1000 or less for sportsman? . Maybe one race per class per evening? So including bike, sportsman, pro, super pro, 4 matchups . More money more hype. We might not be on the scale of Johnny bracket vs slate Cummings or the Williams vs Richardson but we can still have some fun. Any ideas on how to make this fly?

I like the concept. Probably needs to be something in it for the track for them to be interested. Could make it a king of the hill type of thing. Where you can challenge the current king of the hill. The first pair is random. After that you can throw your name in a hat to challenge the current king of the hill. Not sure what the challenge entry would be or how the track gets in on the action other than throw the track a fee too. Loser pays the juice.
I’m also intrigued by the AHRA challenge they are doing. Find someone else who has about the same dial in as you and run heads up.

Jim the good thing is the track doesn’t want any cut . They want it to work so bad they are actually going to ADD something to the pot ! I like the king of the hill idea

I don't understand why the track wants this? Why not considerate on a good points program and a good payout instead of this (gimmick) stuff. Last year there was a 3 way battle the last race for s/p points and not a word was announced about it while it was going on. All year points are not even mentioned so introducing something like this is just going to take away from the regular program. Try building on what you have instead of introducing more things. JMO

They could also help by putting a free add on facebook and telling people we have a bracket race this weekend. Then they could start talking about the racers on said add. Promote the racers personally and try and get a few people in the stands.
Something like who is 1 and 2 in the points and see who comes out on top at the end of the weekend. Have a bounty for somebody each weekend and advertise it. Try and get a little interest to get people there to watch.
I think we can all agree the track wont get rich off of the racers at the concession stands etc. Almost all of us come in packed for the weekend. Figure out ways to get the public interested and put a little extra money in tracks pocket to where maybe they can have a better end of year points payout. Concession stand shouldnt be NHRA prices all year either. Little crazy for a weekend bracket race. The few times ive been to i-57 they have always had people in the stands and always had a good announcer explaining things going on with the racers or just the racing itself. Maybe its not possible because the general public doesnt care about bracket racing but seems little effort has been done to try and get people in the stands.

Get the word out on current point leaders, schedule, upcoming special bracket events (like a King of the Hill program) Who won, who is up and coming...

Well I see the email where they are going to try the call outs and a rookie points system. Pretty cool idea and an extra $ to the winners if they are in points

One match I would pay to see is the 2018 sikeston champ and heavy hitter Mr dirt vs 2018 Gmp champ brad Kraudhimer! Or in superpro the current champ and former sikeston champ Angelo vs the other red hot heavy hitter with doors Jeremy Mckauge for about a grand? I would pay to see those matches

OK you put up the grand and Jeremy and I will race ...................LOL
I like what there doing I just hope the second time run for the money is not mandatory. I think that will hurt people just coming every now and then from other tracks. Im not criticizing just worried some wont want to pay for a time run if there not in the points. All this stuff is a step in the right direction for the bracket program .

The $20 for the run for the money is too much! I don't mind $10, but not interested in paying $20 for a crap shoot. The run for the money is fine, but its like a slot machine! I was told you still get the time run even if you don't enter the run for the money. The callout thing could be fun, but I would imagine most of that will be between our local guys and not racers from other tracks. I honestly don't think Bret is going to come race at Gateway anyway, its against his religion. Lol! He never has raced at Gateway much at all!

That is a fact. BK ran in Street all the time plus the Wednesday Jackpot races, regularly. Also, was a great photographer there. When the current group came in, that's when it all stopped. There is certainly a story, there.

Yes Bret cleaned house in the old street ET class in the mid to late 1990s now it’s sportsman. And did run the freefor all class with no rules called jackpot on wensday. And pat is correct it’s a new gateway management thing that I wish both parties could get past

There is certainly a story, there. It was maybe the biggest mistake new ownership made when they took over Gateway - not wanting anything to do with the people that were involved with previous owner/management . It was a huge loss for the track when they didn't invite Brett back to the track with all that he did their . The loss of his bracket racing classes he held was a huge loss in itself much less that their hasn't been a good photographer their since they reopened . It would be easier to get new people into bracket racing if BK was still doing the classes and the track PROMOTED IT wtf it's like i'm taking crazy pills
