Thought was odd not to try to draw more racers on a special race event .

Probably because the race had no participation in it this year except for the one night when they allowed people to enter it up until 3rd round. If I was running the track I would not waste my time running a class that has no participation in it on an Event that they are going to push to get done before dark.

Every superpro car that has a door will be in Benton anyway. But for some reason people like those little trophys they are handing out this weekend so the car count might be bigger than expected?

Does this surprise you? Seams normal operation that's how you advertise and promote ! It's a new way ! As for the bonus race. With the way it was set up it was set to fail ! When you want a desire result set the program to fail Duh! I am Sure next year will bring more of the same

With the way it was set up it was set to fail !When you want a desire result set the program to fail Duh! I am Sure next year will bring more of the same Well, I agree with you on their exceptional new method of promoting races, and it just amazes me. I don't believe the bonus race was set up to fail though. The bonus race got the same participation from the pro class as it has for the last couple years. What they did this year was try to give the race a better payout, which worked, but it still wasn't enough to get anymore no box racers to participate. The bonus race for the pro class has been an epic failure from the start of it, just like any time Gateway tries to have a big payout no box race! I don't think the problem with class participation at some of these events falls all on Gateway. The nobox race they had at the end of last year was probably the largest car count the track has ever had for any no box race, other than that event the local nobox racers do not support any races that pay decent money and never have. Not sure why it has always been like that, because there are a lot of good nobox racers at Gateway. And for those no box guys that cried because of the runoff at the end, it was close to 50/50 on the winners this year with that format, but even the guys who lost in the runoff were paid more money than they were the year before for winning the bonus race in pro!

When you mix box with no box in a formate like this participation will always be an issue with the no box guys who truely want a fair shot in the final When you say it was a 50/50 win percent. Kinda like trying to get pro guys to cross over in super pro, just not going to happen ,, but on the other hand sure get those s / pro guys to dip

I was stating that the participation was no less than it has been for the bonus race the last couple years when there was no runoff! What was the problem then?

Clay your right. I have no idea why gateway added a pro 1/8 class in to the normal Saturday points in 2012 when the track reopened. Pro has never had a good turnout for any special or bonus classes . If it's not points pro won't pony up? Very strange. I say go back to the old way for 2016 and have a superpro 1/4 mile class with no points and no time brakes . Anything goes . That way if someone wants to test on a Saturday make them buy the 1/4 mile tech card and they will get two time runs and at least 1st round in . Pro gets one class end of story!

I was in two finals with no box and had the tree both times. Pro does have a chance to win. The point is pro doesn't play. Even before when there wasn't a run off they wouldn't play. I read where pro said we don't have a second class that isn't fair. Now there is a second class and they don't enter it.
