I would like to ask you guys if you see me at the banquet or after the races next year to keep me away from the beer and alcohol my drinking has been getting out of control and I am going to seek professional help before something bad happens. Any help you guys can give me would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

Gotta admit, I am surprised by this. I didn't think you had been drinking much at all the last couple years.

Please don't become Tivitt at the banquet. I didn't think you drank that much either. Of course we'll help out

I think it has a lot to do with age and my liver not processing it correctly. I get drunk very fast and hungover for days with chills. And with this new job I have at the mental hospital in on call 24/7 and cannot be buzzed even when I show up. Thanks again guys.

Whatever you need, Jason. It's a hard thing to admit. There is actually medication to help with this situation. Believe it is called Naltrexone. Best of luck.

Sober for 25+ years now. Still have lots of fun w/o the alcoholic beverages. Thought I was having fun being drunk back then but I realized it was nothing but bad news for me and everyone that cared about me. Plus, think of all the money you'll have left over for race car parts!

Jason Congrats on being man enough to notice a issue .Don't be ashame of it or embarrassed by it but learn from it . You might have to learn to stay away from some who may lead you to that area . I believe we all have a loved one with Mental and physical dependencies .Also asbusive relationships to love ones .Your not alone .We will listen to you if you want it from your racing family . I just learned of your new Job and a NEW addition coming into your Family .CONGRATS .

Thanks Don and everyone else for the kind words. Tge new job is a dream job and I don't want to mess it up. And yes we have a second child on the way so I have a family counting on me now . I'm just going to try and not put myself in tempting positions . After a win or a loss at the end of the night I will probably just load up and leave . And my plan for 2014 after 14 straight seasons of running superpro is to step down and just run the mustang for awhile. It's just as much fun. A win light is a win light I could car less about going fast . And as far as the money goes it's not much of a change either.

Jason, Congrats on acknowledging you have an issue and need to make a change. That is the first step towards recovery. I'm a recovering alcoholic myself. I went through rehab 5 yrs ago Dec 15th. I won't lie, I still struggle at times to this day when there is a major issue like a death etc.. However, quiting alcohol was a great thing for me as well as a few other close friends who have too. At first being around drinking was hard. Now I don't even notice it. I can tell you this.....1)you will be surprised at how many guys at the track don't drink. and 2) You can still have a good time & feel even better the next race morning when you don't.
Feel free to Pm me or I'm on facebook too. I can give you my number & email add also. Just don't try to do it alone in silence. Reach out to family & friends but make sure you talk about what you feel & think. You can do it!!

I have been drunk free since the banquet in 07 Showed me i didnt need it anymore didnt want the blackouts that came with it. I raced several years hard to win the championship so i could make my speech and dont remember 1 word of it. That really sucked! I drink the s**t out of diet coke though just ask Mark Hollaran good luck and CONGRATS
