I know IHRA has a much better opportunity for the weekly points racers than NHRA does when it comes to their finals at the end of the year.

I wondered how long it would take for word to get out. We have been talking to track staff for a while and there is a meeting tomorrow night with an IHRA rep.
Basically, I think IHRA is better for the track. Not sure how but I know it is. For the racer, IHRA has a MUCH better sportsman package. The winner in TOP, (S/P), got $10k and a complete turn key dragster. Personally, I have never run IHRA but, I'm excited to. They will except NHRA membership and lic. for anyone who visits and for those of us who lic, it's cheaper than NHRA. Hiring Scott from Cordova is a big plus in my eyes. That guy is great to deal with and ran a great program. He knows sportsman guys
I will keep both as I do travel a bit. I see it as a positive. What the heck....

Scott Gardner is a well-respected track operator and entrepreneur with roots in the IHRA. Apparently his short relationship with the NHRA did not quite bear the fruit promised. He not only took Cordova, but Eddyville and Cedar Falls as well. A popular track (Mo-Kan) in southwest Missouri has also just signed up with IHRA. I'm not sure what is going on but it's obvious the IHRA has been making a marketing and membership push. JMO, but I believe NHRA to be a very expensive organization to belong to for small track owners. I have personal peeves with the NHRA, not the least of which is the incessant focus on the PROs and their silver-spooned children. This , I believe, is what raises the entry and license fees for sportsmen racers (Many so-called NHRA sportsman racers are pros) Personally, I don't care who runs or sanctions a track. My comments are slanted more towards: Hey, NHRA! Watch your back!

will they do ihra chassis certs at cid If I'm not mistaken you don't need a chassis cert. until you run 9.00 or quicker. At least it used to be that way.

Oneomega- Dead On! I think this is a great thing and was inevidable. NHRA is not about the Pro's, the Sportsman Racer is the backbone of NHRA. Just wait, more tracks will be following suit.

They have already instituted changes in their pro racing programs in an attempt to bring back more of a competitive racing environment rather than just a show. The NHRA had better wake up. The sterilized pro runs are boring and have lost touch with the motoring public. This is exactly why Ford is dropping its support for the pros and expanding its sportsman racing programs - race on Sunday, sell on Monday!(Source: Hot Rod Magazine February '14 issue)
